An affluent neighborhood in the early 20th century, much of Millen Hills was flattened by bombing in World War II, and lay largely in ruins for three decades. Although a few pre-Depression-era buildings survived, most of the modern-day buildings were constructed in an urban renewal project of the 1970s and 80s, which made the suburb again a hopping affluent area, which it remained until the outbreak in 2005.
