The Arch Building
Description
History
Built in the 1970s, the Arch Building served its time as a squalid housing block, constantly acting as home to the dregs of society - pimps, drug dealers, prostitutes, addicts, criminals, perverts, and a savagely violent street gang. During the late 1990s, the leadership of Millen Hills' prominent criminal gang, RDD, decided to expand their operations from the protection rackets they had been running for years previously, into the drug business at the time controlled by the rival Rogues gang. Violent gang warfare eventually forced the Rogues to abandon the territory so fiercly defended by RDD's heavily-indoctrinated gangbangers, allowing the victorious gang a chokehold on the distribution of narcotics in the area. Eventually, though, greed and paranoia mounted in equal measure, and in the early 2000s, what few suppliers the gang used were eschewed in favour of home production. Fresh blood recruited from small secondary school gangs (known in RDD parlance as micromasters), chiefly culled from violent student gangs in Prouse Avenue School, were put to use in drug labs hastily rigged up in the upper floors of the crumbling tower of flats, equipment either stolen from school chemistry departments or assembled from whatever lay at hand. Production of the first few batches never quite made it into circulation, however, as the outbreak of 2005 soon made hanging around on street corners or in the shade of Henslowe Park far too dangerous. These days, the shoddily assembled meth labs of Arch's upper floors have been appropriated for other, more nefarious purposes, arcane chemicals now being stolen from the nearby Muller Building rather than Prouse's unguarded student labs.
