This game can only realistically be played for 5 minutes a day. So it's not really a seller for new blood. I want to play it more. And the die hard fans I'm sure feel the same. More will go on in a day, sure. But that's for both sides. We're ready for it. Let's get this game moving again. We need this.
The player will not know how much AP the other player has exactly, but players with 5 AP or less will have EXHAUSTED along side
their name and HP.
Once a player with the rescue skill picks up an exhausted player any action less than 10 AP will cost double
while they're carrying another player.
You also cannot repair buildings, refuel and repair generators, repair radio transceivers, scout buildings, build barricades,
free run between buildings, close doors, dump dead bodies from buildings, jump from tall buildings, or search for items while carrying another survivor.
The same applies to the one being rescued until they are put down or leave themselves.
The one being rescued can leave at anytime by clicking on any adjacent block.
The message will read "Player A has broke free from your grip." for the rescuer,
and "You have broken free from Player A's grip." for the one being rescued.
Dropping the survivor costs 0 AP.

How would you stop abuse? A player may want to carry you a surburb away, or remove exhausted survivors form a tactically important building? --Rosslessness  21:48, 12 June 2012 (BST)

While I think it's a neat idea, it's unfortunately very open to abuse. For instance, what's to stop people from "rescuing" others from a perfectly safe building...then promptly depositing them outside for the zombies to eat? Especially so since people can't free run while carrying someone else. It's effectively a death cultist's dream come true, since it's a Drag skill that doesn't require any extra work on their part and works even if barricades are up. 21:49, 12 June 2012 (BST)

|Description: I've recently emailed Kevan regarding impostors in Urban Dead. This was what he had to say about the subject:
|Description: This will be a new item found in schools with a 2% find rate and sports stores with a 4% find rate. The low numbers are because, like a flak jacket, once you find it you have it forever. It increases you encumbrance by 30%. However, you can't use an item that is in your backpack until you remove it from the backpack. It costs one AP to add an item to your backpack and one AP to remove an item. An item affects your regular encumbrance until added to the backpack. Items such as GPS, radios, cell phones, and flak jacket do not work when in your backpack. Items in your backpack will not be shown in your inventory, but the backpack itself will be shown in your inventory. There will be a drop box next to the word backpack that shows all the items inside. When you click on an item in that drop box, it removes it from your backpack (1 AP).

{{quote|1=Kevan|2= It's tricky. I've just had a play around with automating the trivial detection of this kind of thing - if someone's using a name that's similar to another user, but with zeros or Ls to disguise it, I can print a message on their profile that links to the original account. But this turns up a lot of false positives where accounts just happen to have similar names (is "Lan" with a lower-case "L" impersonating "Ian" with an "I"?), particularly when people tend to innocently use number and letter tricks when they find that their chosen username is taken.

The only other route I can see is to open it up to manual reporting, but it seems difficult to verify disputes - if "Tom" emails me and says that "T0m" is impersonating him, is that really the case, or is he just annoyed at a similar username being out there and would either like it banned, or forced to wear an "I am not the real Tom" badge? Sure, I can compare descriptions, and warn people that I'll start checking chat logs for signs of impersonation, but as soon as people are aware of those rules, any genuine impersonator would just alter their approach so that their behaviour became ambiguous. If an innocent fan of Japanese folklore joined the game with another Yuki Onna style name, and wandered around saying silly things in-game, how would I distinguish them from someone maligning an earlier Yuki Onna account?
Q: Wouldn't this buff survivors, since they can carry more bullets and kill more zombies?

I've tweaked the profile pages to use a font with a clearly slashed zero, but if you've got any suggestions for a silver bullet, let me know your thoughts.}}
A: Since it costs an AP to add and remove an item, it wastes a lot of AP to put bullet clips in your backpack if you are planning on using them right away.

I bring this to Developing Suggestions today, in hopes of helping Kevan find a way to best combat impostors, but as it stands, the only idea I have is, taking Kevan's trivial automated system above, and including a profile description check as well as a name check.  But that idea probably won't work due to such groups such as Pathetic Bill and SillyLillyPilly (if any members from one of those two groups are reading this, I sarcastically thank you for making things ten times more difficult for this suggestion).

The email is available for forwarding if anyone wants proof of it.
Q: If it wastes AP, what is the point?

Discuss!  Give your thoughts, and let's help Kevan come up with a way to combat impostors! -- 12:44, 27 April 2012 (BST)

A bit of research shows that that the new font, Anonymous Pro, is a pretty damn good choice, as <span style="font-family: 'Anonymous Pro'">“[c]haracters that could be mistaken for one another (O, 0, I, l, 1, etc.) have distinct shapes to make them easier to tell apart in the context of source code.”</span> Of course, the tweak is only going to work for those with the font installed; as it's a free font, chances are it may be bundled with operating systems (I certainly don't recall installing it), but it's not going to be an overall fix. Nevertheless, nice work, the both of you! 17:35, 27 April 2012 (BST)
A: It will be useful if you want to carry around an extra stash of items, such as FAKs and Revivification Syringes, or if you are going far away from any resource buildings and need some extra supplies.
:Also, I'll be sure to pass those thanks along. wink 17:36, 27 April 2012 (BST)

I was wondering why my character profiles use a different font now... now I know. 08:43, 28 April 2012 (BST)

Um, I found that l(ell) and I(eye) appeared different on the profile page itself before but now they look exactly the same... 13:57, 28 April 2012 (BST)
Please give your thoughts.
:That might be because you haven't the font installed, so that it reverts to one without such a clear distinction. Looks the same on Android OS 2.2 from what I can tell. I don't think I can install fonts. ~ 21:26, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

What about a dropdown menu in contacts below ignore to flag as impersonator. If that data can be somehow polled, publish a list of them. Would be helpful for ignore list people as well. But only if there was some anti-abuse built in. Maybe Kevan reviews them before they are published. ~ 07:26, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

:::To me, it seems easier/less work than the manual reporting method Kevan mentioned. He's right, it would be difficult to verify any of it. There would have to be some arbitrary rules in place like a) is character active b) is there a similarly named character already c) are there multiple reports against. Even if that's not doable and he opens it to manual reporting, a published list seems more desirable than Kevan editing players profiles. Let the community see and make their own call. ~ 16:16, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

A more universal alternative to changing the font would be to use different colour shades for numbers, upper and lower case on usernames in the "Since your last turn" section and profiles; everyone could see it no matter what fonts they were using and it would be clear if someone was using an alternative spelling. May also make the user names look funkier. --<span style="text-shadow:grey 0.15em 0.15em 0.1em">xensyria</span><span style="text-shadow:grey 0.25em 0.25em 0.12em">T</span> 20:52, 8 May 2012 (BST)

How To Make a Discussion

Adding a New Discussion

To add a general discussion topic, please add a Tier 3 Header (===Example===) below, with your idea or proposal.

Adding a New Suggestion

 • Paste the copied text above the other suggestions, right under the heading.
 • Substitute the text in RED CAPITALS with the details of your suggestion.
 • The process is illustrated in this image.

 • Name - Give the suggestion a short but descriptive name.
 • Type is the nature of the suggestion, such as a new class, skill change, balance change.
 • Scope is who or what the suggestion affects. Typically survivors or zombies (or both), but occasionally Malton, the game interface or something else.
 • Description should be a full explanation of your suggestion. Include information like flavor text, search odds, hit percentages, etc, as appropriate. Unless you are as yet unsure of the exact details behind the suggestion, try not to leave out anything important. Check your spelling and grammar.

Cycling Suggestions

 • Suggestions with no new discussion in the past month may be cycled without notice.

Please add new discussions and suggestions to the top of the list
