Description
A compact and cubic design accentuates brick lines dividing the 8 story edifice. Etheldreda General is the western-most hospital in Malton, a distinction it shares with two other hospitals. The tan bricked exterior remains intact, maintained by the MTDR
Barricade Policy
In accordance with the Uniform Barricade Plan, this building should be barricaded no heavier than "very strongly" unless under siege, at which time MTDR will defend, heal, and monitor the refugees.
Staff
MTDR, a pro survivor group, had moved into the hospital and agreed to maintain it, receiving a green-light from the CAPD and Umbrella. A doctor can usually be found on call, and the MTDR are always ready to defend the area. The Umbrella Corporation usually stations Blue Team here or in Frye Alley Police Department. The CAPD coordinate defense strageties with the MTDR, but usually remain at their headquarters at the Crew Avenue Police Dept.
History
Named after the patron saint of old age, the Etheldreda was renowned for its gerontology department and catered almost exclusively for elderly patients from across Malton. The hospital occupies the site of an ancient spring, believed to have been used by Anglo-Saxon white witch Ye Dreadded Ethelle as a source of eternal youth. However, historical records dating back to the Domesday Book found in St Aelred's Church's crypt indicate that Etheldreda did in fact die of a most scurvye and pestylente poxe upon hir womynhoode in the late 9th century. Subsequent scurrilous rumours that this blessed woman contracted this mysterious 'poxe' from St Aelred, patron saint of integrity, can therefore be discounted: Aelred lived and died in the 1100s.
After the outbreak, the enfeebled inhabitants were rapidly zombified and many actually increased in vigour as a result. As with many hospitals, the Etheldreda became something of a battleground between the forces of life and death, as it had been throughout its existence.
-On October 25, 2009, the MTDR assumed responsibility for maintaining the hospital and began to fortify and improve the building.
-In October 2009, the Undeadites moved into Foulkes and attacked Etheldreda. With help of the MTDR and Umbrella's Blue Team, the hospital was able to hold off an attack.
-At some point in 2008 or 2009, the BrainFriendlies went inactive and no longer controlled the hospital.
-On September 12, 2006, a fish-like humanoid was discovered alive in a secret chamber beneath Etheldreda. Men in black suits were seen in the hospital shortly thereafter.
