Borehamwood is one of three cities available in Urban Dead, the others being Malton and Monroeville, the latter being very similar to Borehamwood. It was introduced on Tuesday 28th October 2008 as part of the promotional campaign for the UK release Dead Set, directed by Charlie Brooker. It is set in the real-life location of Hertfordshire, with Borehamwood, Radlett and Elstree being towns in their own right.
Playing in Borehamwood
Logging in with Borehamwood characters was done from the main Urban Dead page. Character names from Malton and Monroeville could not be reused in Borehamwood (and, conversely, Borehamwood names could not be used in Malton and Monroeville). Basically, all three cities share the same user database and for the most part, game mechanics; any differences are based on available equipment and building types. Borehamwood is currently under a full quarantine, and no new players may be created in this city.
Bloodied eyes can be found on the description panel of the game, along with similar graffiti, which was already there when the city was opened.
CCTV and TV are new additions, with CCTV giving inside views of surrounding buildings or views of open land locations and TV giving views of the big brother house.
Similar to The Monroeville 100 list, The Borehamwood 100 list has been made public.
Competition
Players in Borehamwood could win one of five signed DVD copies of Dead Set.
The competition had three criteria:
- That your character had an email address set.
- Finding the Big Brother House in the game.
- Entering the Diary Room, and leaving a message for the cameras by having your character speak (or groan). You were then told that you were entered into the competition.
Winners were chosen on Friday 28th November 2008 and notified by email.
The Big Brother House is in the area named Elstree Studios, which is within South Borehamwood.
The Diary Room is located at coordinates [551-85].

General Details
Skills
The dead are a lot faster on their feet in Borehamwood; if a zombie without the Lurching Gait skill spots a survivor, they can click the Rage button to instantly gain that skill at no experience point cost.
- Note: The zombie in question must be on the same square as the survivor for this to work, not just see them on the mini map.
Due to the lack of Necrotech buildings, several skills are useless in Borehamwood. These skills are: Necrotech employment, Lab Experience and Necronet Access. These skills can still be purchased as normal, but the Lab Assistant class is unavailable.
On the day of the city's opening, Kevan confirmed that although the Headshot skill would be present in Borehamwood, it would not result in permanent death.
