Edmund General Hospital
Description
Edmund General Hospital is a Medical facility located in the suburb of Grigg Heights, on the Western edge of Malton. It is maintained primarily by members of the EGU - Edmund General United!
In the event that one of our Physician's is not available during your visit, please queue in the lobby in an orderly manner, and someone will be with you shortly. If you find your visit was satisfactory, or went horribly awry, please help us by adding to the testimonials at the EDU wikipage.
History
Although being the second most Northern of the six Hospitals in Grigg Heights, Edmund is also one of four hospitals of the same name located around Malton. The other three can be located in the suburbs of Shearbank, Peddlesden Village and Judgewood. And with the inept support of its neighbour Haddock Road Police Department, Edmund General Hospital makes for an important strategic possession for survivor groups.
In February of 2015, the Hospital came under attack from ZombieFark. For now, their forces have been driven back. In January of 2016, Knights Templar assisted in retaking Merson for approximately 3 days before ZombieFark stood back up and not only retook the building, but sent a task force to attack Edmund General Hospital in unrelenting waves. EDU has fallen back once but with the help of stragglers has retaken the hospital on multiple occasions.
The confrontation continues to this day.
Barricade Policy
Since it is a Tactical Resource Point, this building should remain at Very Strongly Barricaded at all times to allow access to survivors without the Free running skill. However, in the event of a zombie attack(3+ Zombies), the cades can be raised to Extremely Heavily Barricaded until the zombie threat is dealt with accordingly, following which, the cades be brought down again to Very Strongly Barricaded.
A Barricade Policy for Grigg Heights can be found here. Be warned though, barricade plans do not show the current state of things in the suburb but rather the ideal.
Nearby Tactical Resources
Edmund General Hospital is fortunate to be close to several Tactical Resource Buildings:
- Nearest Fire Station is Prideaux Street Fire Station [2, 49] just 2N 1E.
- Nearest NecroTech Facility is the The Challes Building in Owsleybank, 2N, 5E at [6, 49] for revivification syringes
- Nearest Police Department is Haddock Road Police Department at [0,51], a short trip 1W for ammunitions.
- Nearest Bar is the Loveridge Arms [1, 50] just a short trip of 1N and perhaps a longer stagger back, hey, Doctors need a break too you know!. The Loveridge Arms was briefly used as a base of operations by TechCom but these days lays in ruins thanks to the zombies.
Resources needed for the Hospital such as portable generators, radios and fuel can be obtained from either Caiger Mall or Marven Mall, although it is a bit of a trip to either.
Revivication
Should you need revivification, there is an actively maintained revive point 1S of the Hospital at Sherring Place. Please respect the sacred ground rules for revive points in that Zombies waiting to be revived and survivors (either passing or doing the reviving) will not attack each other on this street block revive point. This revive point is watched and transgressions will not go unpunished. The newly revived are advised to make their way to Edmund General Hospital to restock on medical supplies.
Zombies at the revive point will be DNA scanned and those discovered with Brain Rot will likely be killed on sight.
Hospital Facilities
Here is a list of the available facilities and treatments in use at the Hospital. Please note that it will be difficult to serve patients depending on the current Hospital status, and if the staff themselves are (un)dead.
Hospital Policies
Health and Safety
This Hospital operates to the following set of health and safety standards set by the Malton Hospitals Group:
- Try to keep this Hospital powered and fueled at all times.
- Keep this Hospital Zombie-free, they do tend to eat the patients.
- Repair barricade damage when possible, keep at VSB+2.
- Nobody is low priority. We're all in this together; the Level-1 starter you save today could be the one to headshot the Zombie chewing on your arm a few months later.
- If there are staff to spare, make local ambulance runs to support survivors outside the Hospital.
- Keep a radio inside the building, and please transmit on the dedicated frequency, 27.31 MHz.
Healing in times of Siege
In times of heavy siege, first aid kits can become scarce and so this is the order for healing patients, should things begin to look dire. Please adhere to this plan:
- Heal those infected by zombie bites first
- Heal active players (especially if they have just killed a Zombie)
- Heal those with less than 25HP so they are not targeted as "wounded" by zombies
- Heal those with less than 13HP so they cannot be dragged out into the street should the barricades come crashing down.
Staff are expected to heal and fight until they have only a few reserve AP for escape to nearby safe-houses.
