Basic Info:

  • Supermarkets are multi-block structures unique to Borehamwood. Supermarkets differ from Shopping Centres in the following ways:
    • Supermarkets contain only beer and wine.
    • Supermarkets contain no separate stores to loot from, so obtaining the Shopping skill has no effect within a supermarket.
  • Supermarkets are large buildings, and are often barricaded as such.

Description

a supermarket [548,78] - [549,79] is a four-block structure located in the Borehamwood region of South Borehamwood. It is one of three such supermarkets in Borehamwood. There is one in North Borehamwood and another in Radlett. Although initially thought to be Borehamwood's equivalent to malls, it was quickly discovered that only Borehmawood's two shopping centres contain the plethora of useful items available in the malls of Malton and Monroeville. Supermarkets, however, contain only beer and wine and obtaining the Shopping skill reveals no separate stores to loot from. This supermarket possesses a further tactical disadvantage for survivors by being the only supermarket to also be an island (ie. a building completely cut off from the free running network by empty blocks.
Supermarkets are one of the location types unique to Borehamwood. The supermarket in South Borehamwood is also one of the locations in Borehamwood featured in Dead Set (the television series on which the Borehamwood map is based.) This supermarket is also notable for being the nearest large building to the Big Brother House (located in Elstree Studios.) In the early days of Borehamwood's existence, many survivors stopped at this supermarket on their way to the Big Brother House expecting to resupply, but were thwarted by the lack of useful items available.
