Mattick Towers, the fourth condo constructed during the CityPlace Condo Project.

The Mattick Towers are in surprisingly-good condition, despite having been derelict over time. The first sixteen floors are mere shells and remain empty, the furniture and decor having long-been relocated to the upper floors for a plethora of reasons; both strategic and personal. Unfortunately, the elevators have been deemed unusable and hazardous to the safety of others after the elevator shaft cables snapped in 2006, sending the cars plummeting to the ground. This resulted in the forced use of the network of stairs to navigate through the building.

The basement of the building has been retrofitted with a generator that is usually powered-down due to negligence of refueling.

The remaining sixteen floors of the Mattick Towers consist of condominium units claimed by survivors and peaceful zombies. Typically, each floor has a dozen units, some of them larger than others. All of the units have their own kitchen, dining room, living room, and in most cases, more than one bathroom and bedroom with adjacent exterior decks. Each unit in these upper sixteen floors have, for the most part, been redecorated using all of the furniture from the lower floors and artwork scavenged from museums in the city. A majority of the units are usually messy, the neatness of the unit on the bottom of the tenants' list of priorities, despite neatness being mentioned in recent tenant meetings. The plumbing system has been altered to lead down from the water tower and water-catches on the roof and through the occupied units below; however most tenants have found it easier to use water they collect from their own water-catches on their exterior decks.

Repairs have been made to the interior of the building, making it as secure as can be given the danger from outside. Multitudes of Free-running lanes are accessible throughout the building and lead to the nearby Kippins Row Fire Station, St. John's Hospital, to the Robertson Walk Police Department, as well as to a junkyard nearby, and the Turner Walk Railway Station. In addition, a Free-Running lane runs through the Dodimead Bank and into The Zeally Arms which is a favorite watering hole among the locals. To make the environment seem even more comforting and livable, there have been recent attempts in gardening and tending to Hewlet Park as many survivors and zombies alike long for the smell of blooming trees and flowers in the Spring and the shade under a leafy tree; a memory that is among many that is missed.

History

Built during the CityPlace Condo Project, construction for Mattick Towers started in 1998 and was completed 2 1/2 years later making it the fourth of five condominiums constructed to help revitalize dropping property values in Dulston, Pescodside, and Brooksville. The other four condominiums being Newcombe Towers, Morliere Towers, and Wyld Towers in Pescodside and Roadnight Towers in Dulston. Advertising for the new condominiums varied, but the strategy marketed for Mattick Towers involved tours, discussions, and giveaways on the widely-acclaimed Malton news show, "Good Morning Malton," that depicted the condominium.

While condo sales in all five buildings went reasonably well in the following months the project did not turn out to be the success city councilors and the condo corporation had hoped it would be. Further attempts to improve sales were cut short by the "Malton Incident", with the subsequent evacuation putting an end to any further marketing strategies.

Since then most of the condos have ironically become occupied and have found satisfaction in living in the spacious suites, gardening on the rooftops, and found a soft-spot for interior decorating.

Barricade Policy

It is recommended under the Brooksville Barricade Plan to keep this building Extremely Heavily Barricaded or EHB++ at all times. Its purpose is to serve as a shelter for survivors.
