Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."
    • "...a derelict hospital that was closed down years ago."

Description

Maltonhospitals.PNG

St. Ninian's Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Pescodside, along the western border with the suburb of Rolt Heights. Ever since the initial outbreak the hospital has done its best to help treat the injured and provide safe harbour for the citizens of Malton, but more often then not it has come under siege from the zombie hordes. Due to this unfortunate history all attempts by the hospital's previous medical staff to find a possible cure for the pandemic have been abandoned as the doctors have long since fled or been killed during the numerous zombie attacks.

Noted NecroTech scientist, Caleb Usher stayed at St. Ninian's Hospital for a short time after departing Blaise General Hospital (98,8) when it was overrun back in mid-January. His hopes of starting a new medical career at St. Ninian's were dashed when the Drunken Dead overwhelmed several buildings, including the hospital. Caleb has since moved to a safer location to practice his trade and further NecroTech interests within the suburb.

Mandate

The staff at St. Ninian's Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

1) To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
2) To cure the infected.
3) To keep its doors open to lower level survivors, if possible.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

This building is to be kept Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded at all times. This is also in accordance with the barricade plan set forth by the Burchell Arms Regulars as well as the mutually agreed-upon Pescodside Barricade Plan set forth by local survivor groups and the Dulston Alliance, all of whom routinely monitor the barricade level for this building. As a hospital it is important that every effort be made to keep an "open door" policy (VS+2 barricades) so that inexperienced survivors can find the medical aid they need.

Still, should zombie numbers rise above 5 within this grid or reports of nearby resources buildings being overrun be confirmed, then barricades will be raised to Extremely Heavily to protect everyone inside the hospital. At this time the Free Running skill is essential to entering and departing the St. Ninian's Hospital, but it should be noted that all resources buildings are close and adjacent, so those with Free Running can easily move between them.

It should be noted that if there is trouble in the past assistance has been rendered by the Friends of the Featherstone Library, who are based out of the Featherstone Library (94,16) just a few blocks to the east or the Burchell Arms Regulars, who are based out of the Burchell Arms (89,17) just 2 blocks roughly to the southwest. Another nearby group is the Malton Fire Department, whose district headquarters are located at Ludwell Lane Fire Station. Survivors should therefore send runners to these locations to request assistance.

Current Events

February 6th, 2008 - The Second Big Bash dropped by and, well, it wasn't pretty. The hospital was overrun and a lot of people died. NecroNet scans from the Clewett Building indicated 52 zombies at this location. Ow! That's a lot of zombies... --Mobius187 17:46, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

August 30th, 2007 - Schreiber Drive PD is now under zombie control. If you can and are willing, please hoard up in St.Ninians next door and prepare to counter attack.

July 22nd, 2007 - The Pescodside Defense Alliance has aquired the hospital and now will be maintaining it daily.

July 17th, 2007 - St. Ninian's Hospital is at VSB and inhabited by over 50 survivors. Schreiber Drive PD in Rolt Heights is well stocked with survivors as well. --Bruce Lee VIII 10:20, 18 July 2007 (BST)

February 11th, 2007 - St. Ninian's Hospital, which had been overrun by zombies the previous day, has been recovered, but at the cost of Schreiber Drive PD in Rolt Heights. Survivors are warned not to sleep overnight in resource buildings or other prime targets in either suburb.

February 10th, 2007 - St. Ninian's Hospital has been overrun by zombies from the Militant Order of Barhah. This zombie horde has been blamed for attacks throughout Rolt Heights and Pescodside.

June 21st, 2006 - Tragedy has befallen the hospital's survivors! After the longest siege in history of Dead Animals, the last two survivors left alive in the hospital are dragged out into the street and St. Ninian's falls! The zombies celebrate their belated victory with traditional Disco. Afterwards the zombies engage in a little after-party ransacking.

June 11th, 2006 - Dead Animals has returned to St. Ninian's Hospital and settled in for another siege. Survivors barricade the doors and plan to repel the zombies as they did already once before.

May 31st, 2006 - After 7 days of knocking on the doors of St. Ninian's Hospital, and at one point being defied by the brave stand of a lone survivor, Dr Shrinker, and dismayed by the flys and mounds of dead, Dead Animals has turned away and started knocking at the doors of the surrounding buildings.
