Description: | I was wondering about perhaps linking encumberance of a human to the percent chance that a melee attack would hit them (melee only, because this is meant to aid zombies slightly). If it's a blatant dupe, or just a bad idea, let me know. One possible mechanic would be to multiply the chance of a melee attack to hit based on the target's encumbrance as follows:
(Table courtesy of Revenant.) Please discuss the specifics of these numbers, or other mechanics for this idea, below. Numbers tweaked per Revenant's and Honestmistake's input. Further input on tweaks is welcome. Further updated: This affects the following attacks: bites, hands, ax/knife/etc. That's anything but guns. The chance to hit factor is applied after the bonus by tangling grasp. |

The numbers may need tweaking a bit but otherwise I like this.Studoku 00:23, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Good idea. I'd vote keep. It doesn't fix the problems with barricading and ruin, but it would still be a good change. - Grant(talk)ON STRIKE 01:08, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
In genre. I like - Iscariot 01:30, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I like this… numbers could probably use some tweaking, but when couldn't they? I'd think something like 0-25% = 0.9, 25%-75% = 1.0, 75%-100% = 1.1, >100% = 1.2 — whichever way you like it, I'd definitely ramp up the numbers for >100% (And yes, I DO stock up this much frequently on my survivors). ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 13:02, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I've tabulated it for you. Had to use XHTML rather than wikitable syntax due to being inside a template – hopefully that's not an issue for you. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 13:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Not a bad idea... I would want to see the numbers change a fair bit, perhaps 0-25% at the loww end and 76-100% at the top with higher than 100% getting royally screwed and preferably not being able to free run too!--Honestmistake 14:16, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Me like... Nerf those 20 shotgun carry... ers... Ok, so I don't have a catchy title for em! So sue me! BoboTalkClown 18:18, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Nore information needed, for example are bites melee? What about how this works with Tangling Grasp?--Karekmaps?! 21:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Question to you folks: Should this affect zombies? That is, should a zombie that is encumbered (or not encumbered) be easier (or harder) to hit with a melee attack? I'm thinking no. --PdeqTalk* 22:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Because of the fact that they can't actually use any of it, i'ed say no, except perhaps a 1.01 against those with flak jackets, because its the one useful item to them.--Zach016 00:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I can't remember which way it works, but if zombies can drop stuff, then it should affect them, and if they can't drop stuff, then it shouldn't. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 13:11, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I would say that it should if only because there is NEVER a need for zombies to be carrying that much in the first place... The only problem then is that low enc is easy for zeds and that might just make this a free buff for them! --Honestmistake 12:28, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Not free. Should they get revived, and they've dropped most of their stuff, it would make it hard for them to go on a pking rampage. --PdeqTalk* 03:17, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
No!-Free boost to zeds and dwarf of survivors. Besides, if I'm sleeping the night, I;'m going to set my stuff down. And since I wouldn't be carrying anything at that moment, if a zed picks a fight, I'll be able to dodge their crap better anyhow.--Kolechovski 17:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- And zombies shouldn't get a boost because...? So you throw your stuff on the ground, and then in the heat of being under attack by a horde a zombies, you can gather all your scattered items and free run into a neighbouring building for 1AP? And also, all those innumerable trenchie weapons you sling around you while attacking zombies don't count for anything either, do they? ~Ariedartin • Talk • A KS J abt all 19:20, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to see this apply only to wearing flak jackets and zombies, if a zombie is wearing a flak jacket then it is 10% easier to hit with melee weapons to balance out the 20% damage reduction for firearms. --Cpt Masterson 14:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Kill I have no idea how much I'm encumbered, and it's not listed on the settings page. As such, I'd be unable to make an informed decision as to whether to dump stuff to reduce the chance to be hit, or whether I'm fine and don't need to drop anything. --Ms.Panes 22:28, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, you could simplify the table by making it .9 for below 25%, 1.0 for 25-74%, and 1.1 for 75% and above. --Ms.Panes 22:31, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- RE: Your encumbrance is listed right above the "drop" button. --PdeqTalk* 22:33, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see it. I'm a zombie right now. Is it only visible if you're a survivor? --Ms.Panes 23:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
