I propose a new skill, under Scent Trail, entitled Mark Scent. This would display an in-game dropdown menu pretty much like Flailing Gesture does, like this:

Mark Scent
dropdown menu with survivor names

Note that the dropdown displays only survivors in the same block as you (plus a "clear selection" option). When a survivor has been marked, the skill will also display another action, like this:

Scent
<marked survivor name>

When you click the scent button, you will get a message saying

<marked survivor name> is y blocks N/S, x blocks E/W

as long as the survivor is still alive and within a 9x9 block centered around the zombie. Otherwise, you will get an "out of service"-like message. You can only track a single survivor at a time, but you can change tracking survivors anytime you wish. You will track the selected survivor for as long as you want. You don't lose his trail if you die, or if he leaves your range/dies (although in such chases, you can't track the survivor until he is again inside the range), but only when you choose to track a different survivor (or no survivor).

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author vote. Nice flavour for vengeful zombies, or with favourite enemies. -- ~m T! 01:11, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep I like the idea of being able to hunt a survivor. Does the effect end if you are killed? If so, then the skill would be pretty much worthless. --Secruss 01:19, 10 June 2007 (BST)
Re: Oh, sure it doesn't. I forgot to mention it in the description, but just added it. ~m T! 01:47, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Adds what Scent Trail should have in it already. --Sonofagun18 02:20, 11 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - Actually adds a bit of horror to the game.. --Black Mask 02:54, 11 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Could be used as something similar to x-ray vision; you know the exact location of a given survivor, which would make it easier to find survivor strong-holds. Might be acceptable if it merely gave a direction. --Saluton 01:20, 10 June 2007 (BST)
Re: - Doesn't Scent Trail currently do so, anyway? The only difference here is how it is triggered: Scent Trail is passive, you only get it when someone interacts with you. This is active; however, you need to be standing by the survivor if you want to start tracking it in the first place, so you won't be really guessing where a certain survivor is. Maybe that wasn't specific in the text? -- ~m T! 01:24, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - To me, this seems like a way to severely harass another player. Yes it ends when that player dies, but if your patient enough, you could wait until they stand back up again to hunt them down again. A dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:46, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Change it so leaving the range does make the survivor lose you, and it's a keep. Too powerful and prone to encourage harrasing if such a change isn't implemented. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 04:01, 10 June 2007 (BST)
    So it's a "Kill/Change" instead of a "Kill"? --~m T! 18:37, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill/Change as Matthew Fahrenheit. --Magentaine 06:04, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill/Clarification -- You mention being alive, are you saying a zombie skill where you have to be a survivor to make use of it or a zombie skill where you have to be standing? And what are you really changing, scent trail works pretty well as is.--karek 06:15, 10 June 2007 (BST)
