How To Make a Discussion

Adding a New Discussion

To add a general discussion topic, please add a Tier 3 Header (===Example===) below, with your idea or proposal.

Adding a New Suggestion

  • Paste the copied text above the other suggestions, right under the heading.
  • Substitute the text in RED CAPITALS with the details of your suggestion.
  • The process is illustrated in this image.
{{subst:DevelopingSuggestion
|time=~~~~
|name=SUGGESTION NAME
|type=TYPE HERE
|scope=SCOPE HERE
|description=DESCRIPTION HERE
}}
  • Name - Give the suggestion a short but descriptive name.
  • Type is the nature of the suggestion, such as a new class, skill change, balance change.
  • Scope is who or what the suggestion affects. Typically survivors or zombies (or both), but occasionally Malton, the game interface or something else.
  • Description should be a full explanation of your suggestion. Include information like flavor text, search odds, hit percentages, etc, as appropriate. Unless you are as yet unsure of the exact details behind the suggestion, try not to leave out anything important. Check your spelling and grammar.

Cycling Suggestions

Proximity Alert

Timestamp: Sketchy270 02:41, 7 August 2011 (BST)
Type: Item/Ability
Scope: Survivors
Description: I was looking through the collection of frequently submitted suggestions and had an idea. What if there was an item that could be found in NecroTech buildings(or similar) that could be placed outside of your safe house, and if there was a survivor or zombie that arrived on the same block(but outside) as your safe house, you would get an alert that says, "Your GPS sounded due to activity around your proximity device". I was thinking this item could be picked up when searching NT buildings, but could only be used if the player also had a GPS device. Otherwise, if the player tried to place the device down, they would receive the message, "You are unable to equip the device, it requires a GPS link". You could also make it require an ability to use it, like Radio Operation. So that's my idea, I was worried it could be in the auto category, but it doesn't really do anything except save the 1 or 2 AP from going outside to check if there's anyone out there, then back in.

Idling Notice

Timestamp: Spiderzed 13:33, 31 July 2011 (BST)
Type: convenience/anti-zerging measure
Scope: Everyone
Description: A lot of players who have been around have collected various alts and idle and unidle them regularly. One inconvenient detail is that we have to keep in mind where that alt has idled, and when exactly we have put it to sleep, in order to avoid getting too close with other alts.

What I've been wondering about is, why use external means when the game could do it itself?

Just give the player an e-mail notice when the alt idles after the five day period, along with coordinates so that the player can check back where he has left his alt before he accidentally re-activates it too close to another alt. To avoid abuse, this notice would be delivered by the e-mail connected to that alt.

Discussion (Idling Notice)

good idea, but personally i would not want any more spam in my mail box.--User:Sexualharrison13:47, 31 July 2011 (bst)

There could simply be an option to opt out of the idling notice, in the same way you can opt out of game update mails. -- Spiderzed 13:55, 31 July 2011 (BST)
that would work for me--User:Sexualharrison13:56, 31 July 2011 (bst)

Sounds good to me.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 13:49, 31 July 2011 (BST)

Not a bad idea. Would it be sent after five day or after a month? ~Vsig.png 04:05, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

It would be the 5-day-period. The month period can be checked with the contacts list. -- Spiderzed 13:06, 7 August 2011 (BST)
I'd send again at a month, just as a reminder. If you're worried about too many emails then you'd opt out of it already, so a second reminder would just help those who would use it anyway. When I fall, I'll weep for happiness 13:16, 7 August 2011 (BST)
While redundant, I see no active harm in a second notice. Also, as the suggestion seems to go down well, I will very soonish put it up. -- Spiderzed 16:16, 7 August 2011 (BST)
