Thanks :)

Amen Sister! Despite the kill vote, thanks for what you did in response to Scooby with the 'rolling pin' :) And I do know how to use power tools (and guns) thanks to my uncle. --Tselita 22:55, 8 May 2008 (BST)

Btw, since the reasoning for your vote was 'as firemannik' who said nailguns != projectile weapons, I thought I should send you the video footage just to prove they are. I posted and linked to under Re's to Cryptosporidium's, Grarr's, Tensai's and Riseabove's votes.

I can send more if you'd like, in order to prove that nailguns are projectile weapons, that they are both accurate at close range (see any of the videos where they shoot cans with the nailguns - both at close and far distances) and at far range (see the video where someone shoots another person in the back with a nailgun from 20-30 feet away in only 2 shots), that they can be used on a moving target accurately (see the skeet shooter using a nailgun), and that they are effective to hurt (see the one with the nails that got embedded in the leg) or kill (see the news report where the teenager was murdered by a nailgun to the heart). I hope this does prove that nailguns=projectile weapons. Thank you. --Tselita 16:02, 12 May 2008 (BST)

Thanks!

Glad to help! I'm mostly still learning how to edit pages. --Frozen Flame 23:41, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Good to see someone else using the site to learn about wiki's. Let me know if you need any help.--Rosslessness 19:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the friendly hello! I'm still feeling my way around the wiki, but if I need help I'll be sure to ask. --FrozenFlame 19:22, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Your redirects

Should actually not be redirects. The [suburb] streets are supposed to be the portal for all the locations in the suburb, with links to the location (which hold all the info). --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:14, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Alright now I'm confused. So far as I understand the Location Style Guide, this is how we are organize info for seldom used locations. Streets are certainly locations that don't get much in the way of events and news. Even so, a merge page allows for a few items before the entry gets too big to be broken out of the merge page. Doing things this way dramatically reduces all of the very many stubs all over the wiki. A portal page would only add another layer of mess, not reduce it.
The Location Style Guide also addresses redirects specifically when there is a category page, such as a streets merge page. It states that the individual pages should indeed be redirects when a merge page exists.
I know that it says that this style guide also says these are merely suggestions, not prescriptions, on how things should be done. Another way of looking at that could be that I can't do things completely wrong so long as I do them near what the guidelines say. However, I am very new to this wiki community and so I thought I should do things to the letter until I learn what is and is not an acceptable deviation. Yet now I've got half a dozen people upset at me for duplicating the same format I already see in half of the wiki.
This situation leaves me a bit fustrated and very confused. --FrozenFlame 23:47, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it's confusing. I'm sure Vantar knows the correct answer. Meh, I got to go... --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:57, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Wow, You have been busy. Unfortunately you have stumbled onto one of the largest unresolved issues on the wiki. The Location Style Guide does imply a preference towards the merged pages but that mostly dates back to a time when there was much less interest location pages and some parts of the style guide have fallen out of date. The question of which format is preferred has never really been settled but having each location on it's own page is a more convenient system than the merged pages is. Yet merged pages do have their uses so the ideal solution would be a combination of both methods. Having both merged and individual creates an overlap that can result in two pages on the same subject with different information so there are some kinks to work out. The best solution I can come up with has been to use some template calls to create merged location pages to create merged locations (to see an example of this check out User:Vantar/Multi location) this way all information on the individual pages in automatically added to the merge paged and eliminates the need for the redirect. As for what you have already done with the Barrville Streets you are right that what you have is what is suggested by the style guide but the style guide is in need of an update and the redirecting to merged pages has fallen out of favor. I would avoid redirecting locations to merged pages. I'm going to start work on updating the [LSG|Location Style Guide]] so hopefully this type of problem won't happen again. Sorry that this has been so frustrating for you, let me know if there is anything more I can help you with. - Vantar 05:08, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for getting the ball rolling on updating the Location Style Guide. Since I'm still so new to this community, I'm just going to wait it out until it's updated. After that I'll get back to implementing whatever method is decided.--FrozenFlame 16:41, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello

Hi, I am pretty new to the wiki too. Pretty frustrating at first huh? Wanted to throw my laptop out the window a few times and just read a book. Anyways, just wanted to say hello and tell ya your page looks nice--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|Z.Quiz|PSS 07:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind comment on my talk page! It's not so much learning to use the wiki that I find frustrating, but the way it is managed. As you could see from my talk page, I was reformatting pages to match a set and voted style guide, only to find that everyone hates said guide. While the powers that be did get the revision process started, it has stagnated and been lost by the wayside. At one time I did eventually throw my two cents in on what should be done, but that only resulted in a wiki mod warning me not to start revising according to my suggestion until voting is finished, which of course I would not have done. Since the style guide is still not finished revision, I begin to suspect that there are very few that really care about how location pages are formated despite the apparent passion when reprimanding my initial adherence to the original guide. Such is politics. Anyways, thanks again for the note and for listening to my rant. --FrozenFlame 16:24, 30 March 2008 (BST)
I still get confused by the wiki editting, personally. Airborne was a major help to me though --Tselita 22:56, 8 May 2008 (BST)

Goober, eh?

"Taliah - College student in the Air Force ROTC. Monroeville. Murdered by a goober PKer lacking the class to taunt."

I think of it as less "lacking the class to taunt", and more "the strong, silent (but crazy) type". Sorry for making your character's life so short. Rest assured, you weren't singled out. You are one of many. ;) --Pseudopseudo 03:02 04 Apr 2008

When the Template's a Rockin, don't come a Knockin

Frozen-flame.jpg Play on Names
This user received a template with her likeness. Get it?
I touch the fire and it freezes me.
I look into it and it's black.
Why can't I feel -
my skin should crack and peel.
I want the fire back...

Despite your name,
you don't play the flamebaiting game.
So you may claim
this template Play on your Name
Enjoy --Tselita 23:11, 26 June 2008 (BST)

Thanks for the template! I just got back from a break from Urban Dead and this was a very pleasant surprise! I am starting to wonder if I have acquired a stalker; that's the forum avatar I use just about everywhere: --FrozenFlame 17:28, 27 June 2008 (BST)
You're welcome. :) Your picture was one of the coolest ones I found online while making Play on Names templates for people. Please vote Keep on Deletions so that Grim doesn't delete the templates. Thanks. --Tselita 17:30, 27 June 2008 (BST)
