Malton College of Medicine Winter Games 2008-2009
Time: December 2008 through early January 2009
Malton College of Medicine will be hosting a variety of holiday events over the 2008-2009 holiday season. There will be both competitive and non-competitive events, and violent and non-violent events. Featured activities include the already popular Christmas Tree Tag, as well as Biathalon, Snowman Decorating, and Caroling.
Refreshments will be served on a 24-hour basis, and will include coffee, hot cider, mulled wine, and the famous MCM punch and cookies. During the Snowman Contest, a campfire will be provided for roasting marshmallows, chestnuts, or... *winces* whatever any peaceful zombie friends might bring along. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own special treats for sharing in the hospital, and may contribute to or make use of the MCM cookie recipe collection. The super-jumbo sized hot tub on the roof will also be available throughout the games.
Winners will get cool sigs for forum use.

Game fatalities and the neutral zone
Due to the nature of the Biathalon and Christmas Tree Tag events, MCM will be lifting its no-kill on campus policy for the duration of the Winter Games. We do request that players concentrate their fire on participants in the games, and minimize casualties among the civilian population. Revives will be conducted at Nicols Avenue by MCM staff without regards to Rogue's Gallery status.
Once the Winter Games are over, MCM will return to its traditional CoL no-kill policy. We request that non-games related killing be taken off campus, and that NO non-game-related bounties or PKs of the participants or judges take place on MCM grounds. Furthermore, MCM will be discussing RG status of kills related to the Winter Games with the mods at brainstock.
All kills on MCM campus have an additional requirement: Not only will there be no trash talking, but each kill on campus must be accompanied by a sincere compliment. Insults veiled as compliments, such as "Your mother/father/pet turtle was a great lay last night," are grounds for deduction of points. Humor is acceptable, i.e., "Your shoelaces match your eyes so beautifully." Adjudication of acceptability of compliments shall be done by a panel of judges carefully selected for their rigid, intolerant attitudes.
Participants in the violent competitions are required to 1) wear a minimum of one article of red clothing and one article of green clothing and 2) include MCM Winter Games in their character descriptions to signify to other contestants that you are competing and are fair game. To get credit, you must register at the MCM forum and post iwitnesses of your successful attacks for the referees to judge. Applications for referees will be taken ASAP. An inadequate number of referees is grounds for cancellation of the games.
Games
Christmas Tree Tag
This is a violent event, and as such requires appropriate attire and registration.
When: Odd numbered days in December, beginning ASAP after trees are available, and ending December 23rd, 2008.
Participants will compete to see who can use a Christmas tree to bash the largest number of different competitors (people wearing red and green with MCM Winter Games in their description) in the four suburb area served by MCM during the time of the competition. Multiple hits on the same person on the same day will not count. Competition will occur on alternating days from midnight GMT to midnight GMT to ensure that each person has an equal number of AP and adequate time to get revived if fatalities occur. Only one hit is required to succeed, and thus fatalities are expected to be lower for the Tag event than the biathlon. At the end of the day, the person with the highest total number of "tags" will win.
I think it'd be fun for the winners of the various days to have a "bash-off" on the last day. Whoever has the most hits on the largest number of different people wins the overall game. No hitting the competition with anything BUT a Christmas tree or you're disqualified.
How-to in brief for Christmas Tree Tag: You search for a Christmas tree (available only around Christmas, not now) and wait for a game day (odd-numbered day). On the appropriate day, beginning 12 midnight GMT (6 pm CST in the US!), you run around the four suburbs surrounding MCM and bash as many different people wearing red and green as possible with a Christmas tree. Take screenshots or iwitnesses showing your name, the TIME and DATE, and the successful hit on a fellow participant. You may get bashed, too, and may die if you are hit too many times before you are healed. At the end of the day, Greenwich Mean Time, (7 pm Eastern, 6 pm Central, 4 pm Pacific Time,) whoever hit the largest number of different people wins that day.
Snowman Decorating Contest
When: dates to be announced, but about 3 days long and occurring around Christmas.
This event is open to both breathing and non-breathing participants.
People dress up and change their descriptions, and go sit in Denton Park in the snow from midnight GMT to midnight GMT the next day. The word snowman MUST be included in the description. Judges will come by and examine all contestants. In the event of fatalities, participants are encouraged to submit screenshot proof of their presence and their descriptions on the MCM forum.
How-to in brief for Snowman Decorating: Get a wacky collection of clothing. Change your description, and include the word "snowman". Go sit outside in Denton Park for 6 hours.
Caroling
When: Most US evenings and other times as team coordination allows.
This is a non-competitive group event involving IRC chat coordination. Small groups of individuals will gather and go out together, with one person in charge of assigning lines of song lyrics to each individual. The groups will visit Marven Mall and various buildings in the area, each person singing a different line of the song until the song is finished. If AP allows, then multiple buildings may be visited. The songs should be recognizable holiday songs, although minor creative alteration of the lyrics is allowed in order to give them a Maltonian ambiance. Please stay off the Ignore List, however! People may go caroling as many times as they wish, and with as many different teams as they wish.
This event is open to both breathing and non-breathing participants; zombie carolers will, of course, have to use Death Rattle. For example: "Bagh zha harhhz rh!h baaghz ah harhh!. Hra-rha-rha-rha-rha-rha-rha-rha-rha."
We recommend having a silent "cameraman" along for the occasion. Iwitnesses will be posted in the relevant thread on the MCM forum.
How-to in brief for Caroling: Sign up. We'll have teams meeting to go caroling together. You each sing a line in some building somewhere in the MCM area. You'll need to be in IRC.
Biathlon
This is a violent event, and as such requires appropriate attire and registration.
When: It will be the last event, and will take place at the beginning of January.
This will occur at a different time than the Tag event, and involves fatalities, unlike the Tag event, which only requires one hit. No Free Running is allowed. All travel is to be in the snow outside buildings. Competitors seek out and kill the other competitors, who in the beginning are only allowed to be in designated VSB buildings. Referees will be needed to maintain cade levels. The finals will be an all-outdoor event, with competition beginning at midnight GMT and ending 1 hour later. Hopefully this will be a large-scale live fire event.
Details are still being hammered out for this event. Volunteers willing to assist in organizing and planning this event are especially welcome.
Spirit of fair play note: These are intended to be individual events, not team. Please do not have your friends scout for you or shoot people until they are easy kills for you.
Team Biathlon
If we have interest, judges, and momentum, the final event will be a team biathlon event, with 4 man teams competing for points.
