Description

Marcellus General Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Rhodenbank. The hospital has 286 beds and also served as a non-profit community teaching hospital. When it came to emergencies Marcellus General Hospital was able to provide services as a Level 1 Trauma Center, Area Wide Burn Center, and a Heart Care Station. The hospital medical staff participated in the "911 Receiving Hospitals Advisory Committee" as part of their duties as a Heart Care Station. The hospital was known for having engaged in many innovative programs specialized for its inner-city location, such as one of the few specialized asthma centers. When the outbreak spread throughout the city most of the medical staff eagerly evacuated the hospital when the military convoy arrived, but others chose to willingly stay in order to continue caring for patients whose medical conditions prevented them from being transported out of the city.

Ever since the initial outbreak the hospital has done its best to help treat the injured and provide safe harbor for the citizens of Malton.

Mandate

The staff at Marcellus General Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

  1. To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
  2. To cure the infected.
  3. To keep its doors open to lower level survivors, if possible.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

Please keep this building at VSB.

This building follows the barricade policy set forth in the Rhodenbank Barricading Plan. Created by the Rhodenbank Civil Defense Corps, the policy dictates that almost every tactical resource point in Rhodenbank should only be Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded and no higher, so as to be accessible to inexperienced survivors who do not have the Free Running skill. As a hospital it is important that every effort be made to keep an "open door" policy (i.e. VS+2 barricades) so that all survivors have access to medical assistance for dealing with injuries and/or infections.

Should the number of zombies rise above 5 within a 3x3 grid around the hospital or reports of nearby resources buildings being overrun be confirmed, then barricades should be raised to Extremely Heavily in order to protect everyone inside the hospital. Note that members of the RCDC have the right to lower the barricades to Very Strongly if they discover them raised higher without just cause.

History

June 6th, 2016:Keeping in line with Dulston and the nearby area's ruined state, the entire building's been trashed. Even the zeds seem to be staying away. I scrounged up a medkit, but there was a zed there. Headed back to Club Dowell, with Old Jack Burton.

November 11th, 2009 - Marcellus was broken into sometime recently. 3 wounded and infected survivors with gen smashed but barricades rebuilt to VSB++. Necrowatch indicates 2 zombies outside. I dropped in a generator and cured the survivors. I had a bad streak at nulty not picking up a single fuel can after a day's worth of search -_-. Heading back to nulty to get fuel.--OO Willie 01:42, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

November 5th, 2009 - Was around the area tagging zombies when I noticed Marcellus lights is out and investigated. Found out it's cracked wide open with 3 zombies outside and 1 inside with 4 survivors at various stages of hurt. Closed doors and barricaded to QSB ... running low on AP but gonna stick around until I go offline to barricade up. --OO Willie 14:43, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

October 23rd 2009 - oO Willie - just popped into southeastern Rhodenbank for a quick look. Hospital is retaken, fully powered, EHB with 6 survivors including myself all in good health. There are at least 5 zombies outside according recent eyewitness report and confirmed with necrowatch. Area is still hot but looks like the survivors have re-establish a foothold in southeastern Rhondenbank.

October 21st 2009 Welp, it seems I was too quick to judge. I can't tell how many survivors are in the building/what shape it is in, as it is too barricaded to enter, but it seems to have been recovered fairly quickly.

October 20th 2009 It seems like the zeds have taken over again... I stopped by to salvage a medkit to cure infection, but the building was ransacked, doors open, three zeds inside. I quickly got a kit and ran into the nearest library, Tompsett. I am now living on books 'till the fighters manage to take it back.

October 15th 2009 Over the last couple of days, noticed that Marcellus have been first repaired then powered on. Dropped in for a look and there are 2 survivors there, power on with barricades at VSB (probably ++, can't tell). Looks good so far and I am off to Nulty Auto Repair next door.

October 4th 2009 Returned to stock up on FAKs before jumping off to the mall next to scrounge for binoculars ... big mistake ... no hostiles but hospital is gutted with no survivors. one live zombie nearby but it's damn disconcerting to see this area devoid of "live" humans .. hell this is where I dropped in initially not even one month ago and it had quite a few survivors camping out o-O.

September 18th 2009 - Power still up but Barricade down with 5 survivors inside including myself. There is a lone zombie inside and all survivors appears to be offline or low on AP (myself) so can't escape. Probably won't live to see daylight ...

Update: [oO Willie] 9.5 hours later, I lived to see daylight but I wish I haven't ... 2 out of 5 survivors are dead ... 2 are dragged outside and badly wounded. Barricade down and power gen is out of commission. I am only a lvl1 medic and trying my best to heal the sleeping survivors before legging it to the next safe house.

September 15th 2009 - Despite a low number of zombies, the hospital has become Extremely Heavily Barricaded. Several Trenchcoats have been spotted nearby.

April 19th, 2009 - Marcellus General has been under new management since February, 2009. MGL has been working closely with the the Dulston Alliance, Rhodenbank Civil Defense Corps and Burchell Arms Regulars to keep Marcellus General maintained and operational for the last several months, with varying degrees of success.

December 6th, 2008 - D.I.T.P.S zombie recon reported that there were 5 zombies inside the hospital. Of those zombies, one was badly injured (9 HP) thanks to the special D.I.T.P.S Zombie Deathgrip™.

December 5th, 2008 - Metal Fox recon reported that there were 11 zombies outside the hospital.

Update: D.I.T.P.S recon reported that the hospital's barricades had been breached and 4 zombies were inside.
Update: The call went out, Marcellus General Hospital has fallen. May God have mercy on the souls of the fallen.

December 4th, 2008 - Healer computer2slow, of the D.I.T.P.S, has reported that the hospital has been Heavily barricaded in an effort to keep out roving bands of feral zombies who are in the area.

February 7th, 2008 Currently under attack from about 10-12 zeds. They broke in...

Update: ...and? Will we never know how this thrilling tale ends?!? --Mobius187 12:48, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

August 15th, 2007 - Tried to get inside, but the VSB+2 barricade policy is not being followed at Marcellus these days. Took refuge in the Ablett Arms with 0 AP left. Thanks for the hassle Marcellus!

May 3rd, 2007 - It was reported that The Grenadier Guards HQ was moved to Billinghurst Place PD.

May 1st, 2007 - The hospital is now being turned into the temporary HQ of The Grenadier Guards. Anyone who wants to join must contact The Imperialist commonly found inside the hospital.

January 23rd, 2007 - A minor break-in was reported, with the barricades destroyed and one zombie inside the hospital. Staff are advised to be on alert for further possible attacks and rebarricade as soon as possible.

Sepetember 5th, 2006 - The Big Bash has rolled into the suburb and zombies from this massive horde have sieged this building along with several others in the immediate area. Survivors are asked to stand strong and defy the undead by keeping the barricades raised.

July 9th, 2006 - Still secured, those in need of healing should head this way. Currently broadcasting and receiving on radio frequency 28.96 MHz.
