20070613 Manual Character Deletion
666Unit 07:30, 13 June 2007 (BST)
Suggestion type
improvement: Allows user to delete unwanted accounts
Suggestion scope
Applies to everyone
Suggestion description
I am a new player. In order to test out which character class I would like to start off with I (Probably like many others) have created multiple accounts. I now have one account from which I have switched my focus onto. I have search the Settings menu for an option to delete my unwanted/unused characters, but there is non that I'm aware of. I believe this option should implemented into the game settings for a few reasons:
- I created my first account with the name I wanted, but I found out that that particular class did not suit me, so I effectively lost the name I wanted. Adding Manual Character Deletion could also give other players a better chance to get the name they wanted.
- This addition would also allow a census change in the user population to more accurately display the "Active" population.
- Also, this would reduce the likely hood of you Main character running into one of your unwanted characters in turn receiving percentage penalties for mulitiing.
- I do not see any harmful effect from this setting thus far that would have a detrimental impact upon the balance between Zombie strength or Human Strength.

- "No - there's too much scope for in-game confusion if players are allowed to change their name, or start as a new character with the same name, or have their abandoned name taken up by someone else. But any character that hasn't been logged in for more than five days is considered to have spent that time finding and reinforcing a place to shelter, and becomes "hidden", effectively disappearing from the game. They'll re-emerge if you log back in, but if you never use the account again, the character won't ever appear on the streets again."
This still does not allow me to get my name back, nor does it give a Good logical reason why I can't just take that character away from the system. "Some degree"... What degree? Why not? That is my question. Why not? It causes confusion... What confusion? If a person doesn't log in after a certain amount of time... Who cares? I still haven't got the name back, and that character will never be seen again, and if it does get seen again who will get confused? What the hell? 666Unit 22:00 june 13 2007

- Kill - After 4 or 5 levels every character starts resembling eachothers. there are no fixed classes in UD as for why it creates confusion. the name belonged to a different ID number. It's impossible to check if a charcter belongs to a player. A PK-er could delete his account and another could take up that name. How would you know if the name belonged to the same player or not. It's very easy to see the confusion if you start looking for it. Simply play your orignal character, within one or two weeks you will not notice any class restriction anymore.-- Vista +1 10:41, 23 June 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- It's a good thought, but what's supposed to eventually happen is that the accounts just go inactive, and then you don't run into them again. I think you can email Kevan to delete them, too. Kalir FTW! Z/S UD Potato Words 07:36, 13 June 2007 (BST)
- Dupe/Kill -- Differing justifications do not new suggestions make. Furthermore, all the arguments against the other one apply to this one too. -- Firemanrik 00:43, 14 June 2007 (BST)
