Knife Throw(Reworked)
Timestamp: | Tryce of Thunder 20:59, 19 August 2006 (BST) |
Type: | New Survivior skill |
Scope: | Attacking |
Description: | "Knife Throw" would be bought under "Knife Proficiency"(Does not carry over to zombie). After being bought, you gain an attack button labeled "Throw Knife"(Costs 1 ap), followed by a drop down list of targets(This only happens when you have at least 1 knife in your inventory). When thrown, the knife is then removed from your inventory(Throwing it at your target). It would have 65% accuracy, do 3 damage, and have no effect on barricades, generators, and radios(When one of those are targeted, an AP is wasted and the knife is gone from your inventory). |

- Keep - Although knife throwing is hard, this is realistic. Good job. --Gold Blade 21:07, 19 August 2006 (BST)

- Keep - I honestly cant see anything bad in this, good one. - Whitehouse 21:33, 19 August 2006 (BST)
- Keep - Dibs on a zombie hunter named Riddick (Vin Diesel rocks most severely, yea verily, and thus...) - MrAushvitz 21:40, 19 August 2006 (BST)
- Keep - maybe tweak the accuracy. knives are hard to throw. other than that, not too shabby. --Mr Backwards 21:44, 19 August 2006 (BST)
- Kill Not worth the effort to code it. So it has the accuracy of a gun, but does 2 less damage and requires you to find a knife for each shot. --Jon Pyre 22:19, 19 August 2006 (BST)
- Re - I'm pretty sure that's an invalid kill vote, as we don't vote on the complexity to code it, we vote on the idea. Tryce of Thunder 04:16, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Keep - though I don't think you need a seperate dropdown... just be an attack "Knife (stab)" and "Knife (thrown)" --Gene Splicer 22:23, 19 August 2006 (BST)

Kill-Gives some additional use that people don't HAVE to use if they don't want. Problem is why does a THROWN knife do more damage then a "REGULAR" knife? Drop that back down to 2. And drop the accuracy down to, say 40 or 50% (throwing a knife accurately is NOT so easily done, not to mention these are KITCHEN knives which aren't exactly designed for "combat" or "throwing" in the first place).--Pesatyel 00:18, 20 August 2006 (BST)- Re - 1st off, a THROWN knife does more damage beceause OF THE IMPACT. By your logic, throwing a bullet at someone should just as much damage than if you shot it at them. And the accuracy is that high because they already have much skill with the knife already("Knife Profiency") so they're bound to be pretty good at it. And how do you know that the knives in the game are kitchen knives? They're not given a specific description, so we have no way to know. Tryce of Thunder 04:16, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Re - ::First of all, they ARE Kitchen Knives. Secondly, don't be a moron and don't put words in my mouth (THROWING a bullet? WTF?). You mean to tell me that THRUSTING with a knife is less powerful than THROWING one several feet? Especially if you factor in gravity and the non-weapon design of KITCHEN knives (NOT designed for throwing), among other factors. Bullets are specifically designed to be projectiles. KITCHEN knives are not. I have no problem with a bonus to hit for the skill, just that the bonus is too high.--Pesatyel 06:53, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Re - Okay, so they're labeled kitchen knives. How do we know what kind of kitchen knife? We don't. For all we know, they could be butter knives, so there's still a good deal of room for speculation. Secondly, a THROWN knife does more damage because of the IMPACT(Let's put up another example, what hurts more? Someone throwing a baseball at you and someone using like a handheld weapon?). I told you already. And I'm not puttitng words in your mouth, I'm using your logic and extending it to other things to show how rediculous it truly is, but you seem to not see this. - Keep - this one seems to be acceptable --Kiltric 03:05, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Kill - I'd rather see a more 'individual use' for the knife rather than give it a special attack. Youronlyfriend 03:46, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Keep - May as well throw those knives (found in hardware stores while searching for gennies) at someone rather than dropping 'em... otherwise they're just as bad as newspapers! -- boxy T L PA DA 04:20, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Keep - I'd say it's beyond useless, but it's also harmless.--Theblackgecko 05:44, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- keep - I like this version for some reason... The Mad Axeman 12:13, 20 August 2006 (BST)
- Spam - As Pesatyel. What hurts more, you standing still while I whack you with a baseball bat, or me throwing the horribly weighted object from half a block away at you? A Kitchen Knife is not a butter knife - it's a ****ing kitchen knife. They are not designed to be thrown. They do not do as much damage as being hit with an axe. This attack is as useless as using flares as a weapon. No serious player would use it. Youronlyfriend raises a good point - give knives something useful to do, don't make them **** guns. And Jon Pyre's vote is valid - he's saying the idea is crap and not worth using, not the idea is good but too hard to code. David Malfisto 13:09, 21 August 2006 (BST)
- Keep - eh, it's harmless, and easier to code for than guns... i can tell by looking at it. Jon's vote is invalid --DJSMITHCDF 20:17, 22 August 2006 (BST)
- Kill "Accuracy of a gun, but two less damage": makes Jon's vote, and any that referenced it, valid. It's not a bad idea, but why bother? --Funt Solo 13:31, 31 August 2006 (BST)
