Modify to UBP Standards

I feel that the barricade plan is in need of some modifications. I propose we start modifying it to meet UBP standards. --Jerran1 (talk) 22:03, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

The New DODD

The DODD wiki page has been updated for clarity and to make future changes easier. The only deviation from the original is upgrading Downe Towers to EH.--Private000 00:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

why changed?

I do not understand why you changed barricading of the downe towers to EH instead of VS without changing the Gouger Arms to VS (for example) - which would have been a good change in my opinion. But just changing the towers? Where is the sense of that? No survivor without free running should have to walk more than 1 block to the next enterable building. All survivors outside the speak motel, in noblett drive and bullor avenue have to walk 2 steps before they reach such a building now. The plan however is still improvable on the eastern side, where I would change the Gatehouse Building to VS and get the Pilton Building to EH instead.

Moreover, please explain, how you will keep up the barricades at Tovey Place. ;-) --PsychoLycheeELT 03:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Haha, um pile up a wall of zombies on each side 10 feet high?--Private000 00:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I cannot support the "new DODD", if it stays like that. And I have done that up to now. --PsychoLycheeELT 03:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

The only change I made is Downe Towers, and I did that because of the DvB guys in there. I knew that telling them to comply with the plan would be pointless, but you are right. If the plan is to be adhered to at all, any changes should be discussed and be implemented intelligently. I have put Downe Towers back to VS for now. [I feel so dumb. I just looked at the Downe Towers page, and even DvB says to keep it at VS.] Your other ideas are worth discussing, since the plan is a little over a year old.--Private000 00:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Seems like nobody's interested in this barricade-plan? Well, who made it? Does anyone know, what she or he (or they) thought, back then? Or is it just based on a random creation?--ρsych°LychεεELT 01:22, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Proposed Changes

  • Upgrade to EH:
    • Pilton Building
    • Nott Auto Repair
    • Trood Building (NT)
  • Downgrade to VS:
    • Gatehouse Building
    • Gouger Arms
    • Troubridge Cinema

Discussion

Trood moving up makes sense to me, with Beale remaining at VS.--Private000 00:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Troubridge going down at first didn't make sense to me, but the idea of just not worrying about it, and saving ap for more important resources does make sense. I do agree that there is no good point in upkeeping its barricades.--Private000 00:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and promoted Trood to EHB and demoted Troubridge to VSB. Since it was proposed back in January there's been several votes for it and only one against.
Opps, forgot to sign. Bale Frend 12:50, 23 April 2008 (BST)

Wait, doesn't a resident get a vote? The swarm loves trying to take the place, and it doesn't help that overzealous under thinkers don't look outside before hacking at the cades. Plus if Trood goes down a good number of the guys in there jump over here. 1 vote for back to EHB. =P 11:41, 9 May 2008 (BST)

DODD not being followed?

I've been playing UrbanDead for about a week now, and my scientist is level 2 now. However, in the past few days, it's become increasingly difficult to enter any NT building in Dulston (or any building in the NE corner), since they're all EHB most of the time. Is this because a backup plan has kicked in, because there's groups who don't follow the DODD, or because there's people who overbarricade because they're not familiar with the DODD? Conster 10:56, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm with the group D.I.T.P.S and trying to help to maintain DODD. I could only say that there are few zed attacks in previous day which forced some of us to barricade even higher than DODD. Ben2 11:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Alternative Dulston Defense Diagram

Partially out of boredom and partially to streamline operation of the suburb during sieges, I've compiled two separate maps visible here. The top one is a map of the optimal buildings required to be kept up for fast free-running lanes from Treweeke to Troubridge and everywhere else- necessary buildings are in NecroTech redline, optional buildings are in Hospital red, and unrequired buildings are in Tower white. The plan was designed prior to me giving the D.O.D.D. a serious look and is basically a straightforward outline of getting around the suburb while keeping a significant number of resource buildings in the net. It is not, however, a barricade plan.

The bottom one is. It's sort of an amalgam of the upper diagram and the current DODD. Colored in template standards, it's written up for two purposes-

1. To act as a siege barricade policy- one that allows low-level survivors access to safehouses but maintains the resource net.
2. To be UBP compliant while still providing numerous and strategically placed safehouse access.

The plan features considerably more EHB buildings than the current DODD- among the notables are Spicer Row PD, the Naisbitt Building, Anacletus Hospital, and all the NecroTechs except Beale. However, you'll see that there's still plenty of entry points evenly spread, and at least one street-accessible resource building per type.

Thoughts, comments, or criticism would be appreciated. --Boris 18:53, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Trood building barricades

I'd like for the barricade policy to state that the Trood building should be EHB. Troubridge cinema could be downgraded to VSB, so there would still be entry points at St Barbara's church and at Troubridge. This would help with defense of the Trood. Is there any opposition to this? --Emerald Green 10:50, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I think Trood will need to be barricaded more than VSB because it's an NT building. Usually St Barbara's church will become an entry point to NE corner. Besides, who wants to defend a church? I prefer to have it for RESCUE. No one support that idea though :( --Ben2 12:54, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
I would support indoor revives at the church, except the church would probably just stay ruined most of the time. That would cut the free running lane between the Trood and other resource buildings in the suburb. Avoiding getting hurt by running into a ruined building would effectively add 6 AP if someone leaves the Trood to restock and returns. It would reduce the likelihood that people would come from elsewhere in the suburb to help in the Trood when it's under attack. Also, Hamerton Road and the cemetary are currently revive points, and if we added the church as a revive point, we'd have three adjacent revive points. That just increases AP expenditure for survivors who need to check multiple locations to find someone to revive. I don't think that ignoring sacred ground policy would be a good idea, and Hamerton Road is also a revive point for the Beale building. Both revive points are good, and we don't need a third.
On the subject of barricades and the Trood, note that according to current barricade policy, both Beale and Trood are supposed to be VSB. These are both NT buildings, very close to each other, and not easy to defend. At least one of them ought to be barricaded to EHB, since players without free running don't need access to both buildings. --Emerald Green 10:23, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
