History
Erected on the eastern fringe of Foulkes Village in 1973, the Burdett Building was controversial from the day it opened its doors. Towering over the more modest historic buildings to its west, it literally cast a shadow over the village's Anglo-Saxon architectural treasures. The pet project of billionaire Carpet Kingdom entrepreneur Barry Burdett, the building is over 400 meters high allowing for 101 floors. (Burdett occupied the 101st-floor penthouse) The looming modern structure was rarely more than half-occupied after the economic boom of the 1980s ceased.
Saddled with mounting debts and unable to attract more businesses to his gargantuan folly, Burdett ate a final meal at the 100th-floor restaurant, Bistro on the Burdett, before flinging himself to his death from the observation deck. The corpulent carpet salesman left a 12-foot deep crater in the pavement below which still attracts curious survivors and traps unwary zombies.
Barricade Policy
