The Temple of Light
About the Temple of Light
To walk a path which is unlit is dangerous.
We believe that by putting our faith in the Light,
and by working hard to communicate,
we lift up not only ourselves, but everyone around us.

Our Mission
Founded in February of 2025, The Temple of Light humbly seeks to improve the conditions for survivors.
To this end, we have one primary objective:
On March 14 2025, d̸a̸r̸k̸n̸e̸s̸s̸ will descend upon this city. We're out of fuel. We're out of replacement parts for the generators. Everything is rusted and decayed. We're out of bandages and ammo. The whole city has finally just... run out of supplies.
And so the d̸a̸r̸k̸n̸e̸s̸s̸ will come. It will swallow this city. None will make it out. For almost twenty years we've all been trapped here in Malton, unable to die. We've endured so much. To be killed, and to turn into a monster, and then to come back to life? Over and over? It's eaten away at us. How many times can a person die and be brought back to life before there's nothing of that person left?
Yes, we will all die. Tomorrow, as the sun is rising, I'll sit on the top of Dandison Auto Repair as the sole remaining member of the Malton Taoist Temple. I'll ring the wind chimes up there one last time... and then
.
.
.
rest in peace, Malton.

Keep the Lights on
In order to spread the benefits of Illumination to as many survivors as possible, the current suggested strategy is as follows:
- Refill empty or almost-empty generators in Auto Repair Stores (which we call Lighthouses.) This leads to finding more fuel. This causes a virtuous cycle.
- Barricade lighthouses in order to increase the time that fuel can be collected.
- Maintain factories in order to have reliable sources of generators.
- Assume others will collect and use available fuel for various other strategic places. This is to the benefit of all survivors.
Facilitate Communication
- Maintaining both radios and Mobile Phone Masts.
While less of a priority than illumination, the electromagnetic spectrum is vast. Radio waves and microwaves are a kind of light too.
Infrastructure
Our final objective is providing general maintenance to the infrastructure relevant to our primary and secondary missions.
The nature of this category means the tasks performed are very versatile, but often include:
- Restoring ruined buildings
- Cleaning up bloodstains
- Repairing equipment
- Scouting
- Putting up signs
History
A transcendental experience by NovaCiv on 21/02/2025 at 19:53 upon entering St. Jude's Cathedral with the lights on is what first led to the creation of the Temple of Light.
Beliefs
-
--
---
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.
I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine.
Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you.
One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you.
But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal. Even in death I serve the Omnissiah.
--
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
--
And blood-black nothingness began to spin
A system of cells interlinked within
Cells interlinked within cells interlinked
Within one stem. And dreadfully distinct
Against the dark, a tall white fountain played.

Recommended Inventory
Uniform
This is merely a uniform recommendation for potential Lighthouse Keepers and those interested in the Temple of Light's Mission. Clothes may be chosen based on a Keeper's level of progression along their own unique Path of Light.
- A pair of safety goggles
- Overalls (blue, dark blue, red, dark red, dark green, brown, dark brown or grey) or a pair of jeans (pale blue, blue or grey)
- A pair of boots (black, brown or steel toe-capped)
- robes (white, red, purple, black, dark brown, or brown) (Cathedrals)
Necklaces, Pendants, Medallions
The necklace that a Lighthouse Keeper chooses to wear is highly personal, spiritual, symbolic and unique to the individual. It is said that the necklace a Keeper's wears reveals her true nature. Their necklace is also a way to indicate which area they are active in, what Lighthouses they Keep, and what their function is within the Temple's structure.
Rare Necklaces
- Silver Medallion (St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John or St. Jude)
- Spiky leather collar or skull necklace (Ackland Mall)
- Diamond/emerald necklace (Alner Mansion), gold/ruby necklace (Curton Mansion), or silver/sapphire necklace (Southall Mansion)
Uncommon Necklace
- Pearl necklace (any mansion)
Common Necklaces
- Rosary beads or crucifix necklace (Churches)
- Ankh, pendant, or bead necklace, studded or leather collar (Malls)
