Inactive Group Categories
I would like to start a discussion on whether Category:Inactive Groups should be merged with the much older Category:Defunct Groups. The latter is a self-added category for those older selective groups, but I don't see why it should harm anyone if we move them over to Inactive Groups (unless there is some old-school reason that I may have missed). - I initially created Inactive Groups as to specify between a group that was marked inactive (those with the {{InactiveGroup}} template) and one that was declared inactive (via historical groups or the group themselves adding the category.) That's the distinction (and Category:Inactive Groups was created by me in January, while Defunct Groups has been around for a long while.) Linkthewindow Talk 03:25, 17 May 2009 (BST)
- I see, but why not just have the Inactive Groups as the universal category for all of them? Whether it is assumed or self-proclaimed, both categories that exist are for inactive groups, I don't think it would hurt too much to just move the older one over to the newer one. I'm actually going to withdraw this case. It has become stagnant, is bogging up the MR queue, and I don't have the time or capacity to move the category myself (most of the pages are protected). There is absolutely no reason to place this page in the Category namespace. The whole idea of categories is that they are a way of linking similar pages without the information needing to be on the category page. Just put your alliance pages in the main namespace (where this one is at the moment), and add the [[Category:Alliances]] tag to them -- boxy talk • teh rulz 00:51 12 May 2009 (BST)
