Zaruthustra

I have been here since October 19, 2005. I've made a little over 1000 edits to the wiki including 2 guides, a page that clarifies what just happened to your spam, and a few other groups and joke pages. I've made several suggestions on the suggestions page, one of which was implemented into the game. I've been hanging around the suggestions page for quite a while discussing the wiki, its policy, and its general goings on so I'm sure many people here at least know we already, if not support me. I'd say the general argument against my nomination is that I have a bit of a sharp tongue, but there’s a difference between being a user and a mod and I realize the need to maintain impartiality and a professional veneer when representing others. I'm generally pretty conservative in these kind of dealings, and I think I would make a good addition to the team.

  • I'd support your modship --Mikm 20:25, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • Zar definitely seems like a good candidate.--'STER-Talk-Mod 20:56, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I wholeheartedly support Zar's bid for Modship --Jak Rhee 20:59, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I think he would make a greate mod --ramby 22:16, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • When i first came to this wiki i was thinking zaru was already a mod. Fix this mistake by giving him moderation status. --hagnat 23:45, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • Zar, a few questions for you.
  • What Moderator duties do you see yourself focusing on, as a general rule?

Most likely seeing to the suggestions page, which I have spent much of my time here at. It is always in need of clarification, moderation, and maintenance. --Zaruthustra 04:11, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)

  • How do you react to criticism online?

I usually make a debate of it, and if that doesn't work ignore it. My guiding wisdom for dealing with critics on the internet is the old adage about wrestling with pigs. The pig doesn't enjoy it and you only get dirty. --Zaruthustra 04:11, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)

  • What is your current attitude to the moderators, as a group?

I don't know exactly how you mean this. I don't really have a strong opinion about the group because it functions as it should. I see moderators much like judges. They have a job to uphold the rules that should preclude their own opinions. I might as well have a favorable opinion of a well oiled machine. I suppose I'm glad you've all done a good job as long as I've been here. --Zaruthustra 04:11, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)

-- Odd Starter talk | Mod 23:51, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Somewhat edited by AllStarZ to remove that annoying double dot thing.

  • My two top choices are Zaruthustra and Bentley. AllStarZ 01:33, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • Yeah, Zar is doing a pretty good job in the Suggestion page (the place I visit more), so I support his modship. --Omega2 12:15, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • You seem a pretty fair person. Sure I'll vote for you. -- Andrew McM 12:37, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • Does a great job in Suggestion area. This is a vote for you. `8r) -- --GoNINzo 20:14, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I agree. I thought Zaruthustra was a mod when I first joined the wiki. He handles himself well. Also agree with AllStarZ regarding Bentley. --Blahblahblah 21:45, 24 Jan 2006 (GMT)
This is not a vote. The bureaucrats--currently, that's just Odd--gets to decide. All the rest of us only get to comment. That said, if you think Zar'd makea good mod, definitely lend him your support.
  • Zaruthustra is a good suggestor.I vote for him. --Penance 22:02, 25 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I'll be the lone voice of dissent and say that, as far as my knowledge goes, Zaruthustra should not be a mod. The way he involved himself in the "Not have zombies" vote suggests that he would not be as impartial as he views the current moderators. Really more of a "Do what I say; not as I do" sort of mentality, that was. Indeed, it took a mod to step in to calm down the situation so I could keep my vote from being mauled. Not a sterling record to me. -- Ruining 02:55, 27 Jan 2006 (EST)
The way I involved myself in your suggestion and talk page, while admittedly not my finest hour, was the privilege of being a regular user and in all actuality wasn't even that bad. Your idea seriously rankled me because it was a microcosm of the "I'm so great I don't have to follow the rules" attitude in communities, which you still seem to be quite proud of. I'm pretty sure that while my comments were incendiary, none of them were actually against wiki policy. As I mentioned before I realize I'll have to give that up if I get promoted. Anyway thanks due in part to suggestions like yours we already created a new system to destroy those suggestions. For those of you who aren't in on this, Ruined is referring to this gem that he posted on the suggestions page a while back. --Zaruthustra 15:08, 27 Jan 2006 (GMT)
You see that? He won't even do me the dignity of properly spelling my name. A real class act. As for removing zombies, at the time, is was pulling a majority vote for passing on the backs of disaffected zombies. Zarathustra didn't like it and decided to keep deleting it rather than allow the community to speak. He called in moderation and the moderators implemented a system to sort things out. It was Zarathustra who didn't want to follow the rules, despite being a regular user. -- Ruining 18:02, 27 Jan 2006 (EST)

There is most certainly a "class act" going on here. I really do hope people see this for what it is. A single, extremely petty, attempt to derail my nomination. I see you've stepped your charges up from "being mean to you" to absurd fabrications and reading malice into typos. But please, lets play out this farce. Go back into the history and pull up all these vandalisms so we can see the evidence. Unless of course they don't actually exist. As for your suggestion, most of the serious votes it got were from people in your group who never graced the suggestion page before or after that idea. Funny old world isn't it? And even if it had passed, which it didn't, that still doesn't mean your breaking the rules to make a point is somehow cute or acceptable. Now please, if you don't have any real objections, I have better things to do than debunk libel on the interweb. --Zaruthustra 23:56, 27 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Ruining is a troll who almost got banned for abusing the Suggestions page. I suggest that you ignore both his posts here and any other posts that he may have made in relation to this issue. I also strongly support the nomination of Zaruthustra, since this will allow the suggestions page to be far more organized, something which I really don't have time to do anymore. --LibrarianBrent 03:37, 29 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • Zarthustra would make a great mod.--The General 11:02, 29 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • All hail the Shadow Lord Zarthustra! --TheTeeHeeMonster 20:56, 30 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I think that he has proven himself to be a high quality contributor, particularly active on the suggestions page, And who despite sounding a bit harsh sometimes, always based his opinion on good solid thought. I thrust him to be a fine if somewhat stern mod.(Something I believe neccersary on the suggestions page)
  • What everyone else said. He'd make a good mod, plain and simple! Ignore the Ruined one. --Volke 00:04, 1 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • We all know the WCDZ is the true driving force behind the UD Wiki. This would make it official! (On a more serious note, I honestly think Zaruthustra would make a good mod. No, really - I do.) --John Taggart 15:27, 1 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • I'm ok with him being a mod. He has made some great contributions to the Wiki.--RAF Lt.G Deathnut 04:35, 2 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • Absolutely in favour. --Spiro 04:43, 2 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • Sure. Why aren't we using # instead of *, though? MaulMachine 15:00, 6 Feb 2006 (GMT)
    • I think we're using points because this is a discussion, not a binding vote. --Zaruthustra 17:07, 6 Feb 2006 (GMT)

There seems to be a reasonable consensus on Zarathustra's credentials, as such I'm pleased to grant him sysop priveliges. -- Odd Starter talk | Mod 05:05, 8 Feb 2006 (GMT)

And so my reign of terr....ific moderation... begins! --Zaruthustra 06:45, 8 Feb 2006 (GMT)
