2007, April 30

In regards to the Vandal Banning discussion for Zeug I'd like to ask for a ruling on the banning of O'shea 2 by Bureaucrat boxy and deletion of his vote for Bullgod/Suskind by Karloth Vois supporter Cyberbob240. I'd usually wait it out a bit longer and see how the discussion proceeds but it's 2AM here and I may not be back online before the election closes. The Mayoral election is currently running 65/68 in Favour of Vois with the vote closing tomorrow at 2400 GMT.

O'shea 2 is a friend of mine playing UD and voting for Bullgod as Mayor via the same ISP in Australia. Currently O'Shea 2's dynamic IP's ends 234, which he could prove here and now if he hadn't been banned without warning. My current dynamic IP is on a different zone - 220.245.204.133 via DNSstuff.com.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zeug (talkcontribs) .

I probably should be included as a participant on the side of Boxy as I already checked his actions as you can read in the Vandal Banning discussion. Despite this users claims the IP for both the O'shea 2 and Zeug account is exactly the same. And has a different ending than 133 and 234. The number is checked by 2 sysops and 1 bureaucrat already, so I don't think it'll hurt if yet another takes a look. With only 3 edits made by the O'shea 2 account any comparison on writing and editing style is impossible. And a more solid edit history from the O'shea 2 account would have helped to dispel doubt about foul play. As that is lacking I fail to see how Boxy and I could have made any other decision. I hope this case is resolved quickly--Vista 19:24, 30 April 2007 (BST)
Yes, me too. It doesn't look like a case of misconduct as such but possibly a proxy problem in the wiki setup. What IP are you seeing in the history for me here? If it's a proxy IP for TPG Australia then I'd say the wiki isn't seeing X-Forwarded-For headers, in which case this could affect a lot of users, especially if the same goes for the UD cgi. A possible workaround is to add $wgUseSquid = true; to LocalSettings.php. The server admin should be able to sort this out quickly enough. --Zeug 19:37, 30 April 2007 (BST)
Your current ip is: 202.7.190.132. I don't believe this wiki does read X-Forwarded-For headers, though I know wikipedia does.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 20:09, 30 April 2007 (BST)
I'd toss this one in the bin; Zeug has a history of advocating multi-abuse, zerging, and other forms of cheating - even going so far as to call for it on the Extinction forum. He's not exactly honorable, and I'd trust his words about as far as I'd throw a cheesecake underwater.--Jorm 19:55, 30 April 2007 (BST)
Certainly looks suspicious. Either way, checkuser doesn't lie, though it may be worth checking out what the hell "enabling squid" does.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 20:11, 30 April 2007 (BST)
I must protest Jorm's ad hominem attack here. If anyone cares to follow the bread crumbs from my user page they'll easily enough find out I'm a university lecturer, web app developer and admin of a number of customized MediaWiki's. In my defence, after recruiting for Extinction on the Barhah.com recruitment forum and rationally arguing my case, I had my links deleted, followed by my images, then a post protesting this abuse followed by an IP ban, all of which I consider rather juvenile on Jorm's behalf. Can we please keep this debate on a formally polite Wiki level? I am fully prepared to contact Kevan in this matter, especially if this IP problem occurs in UD as well. --Zeug 20:25, 30 April 2007 (BST)
You were told that your zerging group was not welcome; you persisted in posting recruitment links, even in non-recruitment forums (thus ban!). The IP ban came down after you created a second account after the first one was banned. I don't care if you're a university lecturer or a web app developer or not; I could point out that I have a handle bar moustache and it should carry as much weight. You and your group are cheating scum and everyone knows it. I won't apologize for my opinion on the matter, and I think that your history of abuse in these cases is very relevant in a misconduct case about you having multiple accounts on the same IP. --Jorm 20:30, 30 April 2007 (BST)
Is this flamebait what passes for mod comment on this Wiki? Anyways I can confirm that 202.7.190.132 is a referrer IP in the range of my DNS addressing 202.7.176.136 and not a general TPG user IP as you can see here via a screengrab of DNSstuff for my actual 220.245.204.133 IP, go to the bottom of that page to "Your DNS server:". I realize you'll probably not accept a screengrab but as far as I'm concerned this is a proxy IP problem and will be referring the problem to Kevan although I'd still like a ruling concerning O'shea 2's vote for Bullgod ASAP as it took a bit of coaxing to get him to edit the Wiki in the first place and the vote is currently running 67/69 in favour of Vois. --Zeug 20:54, 30 April 2007 (BST)

The two IPs are the same, and boxy took appropriate action. Not misconduct. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 23:07, 30 April 2007 (BST)

Moved to archive. There is no case for misconduct here, much less misconduct.--Gage 02:17, 1 May 2007 (BST)
