UDWiki talk:Projects/Fort Project
Moved from the Policy Discussion's discussion:
Why bother?
Waste of time discussing this; this is not a major change worthy of a huge debate. Just choose a border colour that stands out against what other colours are used in the colour scheme, and surround the whole fort with it.
Personally, I'm thinking that magenta would be a decent choice, though anything that contrasts enough would be an acceptable alternative. –Xoid M•T•FU! 02:01, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think I'll try to handle it in the next half hour, if nobodys done it by then. --Darth Sensitive W! 03:22, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
In Progress
I've got a magenta border added, and Infirmary, Gatehouse, and Storehouse templates created for the locationblocks. However, I based them off the colors for the Ft. Creedy page that were displayed, and looking at a screenshot, they aren't right, so they need fixing sometime. But I can't get to it now. --Darth Sensitive W! 03:54, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Does the Gatehouse need the magenta border? It's the only point where you can get in, so it should really look different to the other places. Or perhaps making the gatehouse look different to other blocks (specifically storehouse) would be good. --Bevear 12:46, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
the whole fort?
Just something i noticed. The whole fort isn't encased in the new boreder. The Infirmary,Storehouse, and Gatehouse arent included. fix this and i'd vote for it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Blood Panther (talk • contribs) at an unknown time.
- Not being something major, this isn't going to a vote. (This isn't even a policy, TBH.) I'll fix that up though. –Xoid M•T•FU! 04:51, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks.
Yeah, I think that's good. I didn't know you guys would respond so quickly. O_o Anyway, can someone go and see the rest of the Fort Perryn layout? --Joe O'Wood 12:32, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Magenta?
It's contrastive, but it's garish. Anyone have a better color in mind? Daniel Hicken 02:08, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I'll change it to a nice teal. --Joe O'Wood 02:11, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- The blue hue is on the right track, but its a bit too close to black? Its so dark that it gets a bit lost in the background. If I'm the only one who thinks this, feel free to ignore that comment. :) --MorthBabid 05:10, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- There, I made the regular fort blocks lighter while keeping the gatehouse the same. Better or worse? --Joe O'Wood 12:40, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've got an idea, though it'll entail work. Should we only highlight the outer edge of the fort. e.g.,

- That would indicate better where the gatehouse is...--Gage 05:09, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Close enough. Will still require plenty of work. Not something I'd do straight away, planning how best to implement it will take more time than deciding what to implement. We could go with merely fixing up the template on each fort's page (leaving the suburb maps mangled, because we're lazy). Putting in a "customised", 10x10 table into the suburb pages would be a helluva lotta work. Take the lazy man's way out and make an individual template for each square? –Xoid M•T•FU! 18:10, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Erm, that would be quite a bit of work, but if you guys want to implement that, then okay. I'm not going to do it, though. >_> --Joe O'Wood 23:24, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Look at the actual pages
Since I'm lazy and don't wanna go copy the templates again, just take a look at the actual pages for Fort Creedy and the like. All nice and pretty? –Xoid M•T•FU! 06:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Very nice indeed, even though I don't like the color. I'll set it back to the 345678, but the border looks good. --Joe O'Wood 18:50, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- That doesn't contrast enough with the color change to the background that we made. I think black would work better.--Gage 18:56, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- >_> Crap, I already did it. Cyan's a bit too bright, though. Are there any non-neon colours that stand out? --Joe O'Wood 18:59, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

- Hrm? I'm thinking a nice CCCC99. --Joe O'Wood 21:21, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Gage, for doing it, since I was too lazy. Err, anyway, I like that colour. Agreed? --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 23:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
