Deletion of Pages
Deletion of pages is restricted to Moderators due to its permanent nature — deletions can't be reverted by normal users, and deleted images can't be reverted by anyone. The following guidelines outline when Moderators may delete pages.
Moderators may only delete a page in one of three instances:
- A page has been listed on UDWiki:Moderation/Speedy Deletions, and that page is eligible for Speedy Deletion according to the current guidelines for Speedy Deletions. Before serving the request, Moderators are expected to review the page to ensure its suitability for Speedy Deletion.
- A page has been listed on UDWiki:Moderation/Deletions, and that page has been deemed eligible for Deletion by the wiki community, in compliance with the rules of the Deletions page.
- A page has been created by a Moderator in the User namespace as a subpage of the Moderator's user page, and the Moderator is the only user who has edited the page, based upon the page's current revision history. In this case, the Moderator should make note of his or her deletion on UDWiki:Moderation/Moderator Page Deletions after he or she has deleted the page.
Except in the third instance listed above, a Moderator may not delete a page that he or she has requested be deleted. It is part of a Moderator's responsibility to check the Speedy Deletions and Deletions pages often and serve any pending requests, subject to the guidelines above, and review the Moderator Page Deletions page often to ensure that Moderator user pages have been deleted properly.
In some circumstances, scheduled deletions may be required to avoid clogging the Deletions or Speedy Deletions pages. In this case, it is not expected that each deletion be requested through the Moderation pages. Instead, the schedule should be approved by the community at the Schedules section of UDWiki:Moderation/Deletions. Approved schedules are listed in the following subsection.
Scheduled Deletions
- Unused Image Removal - Images on the Unused Image list that are a month old are to be deleted. Approved 06:29, 11 Dec 2005 (GMT)
- Image revision removal - Image revisions that are older than 7 days are to be removed. Approved 03:53, 16 May 2006 (BST)
What do you think? –Bob Hammero Mod•B'crat•T•A 20:49, 19 July 2006 (BST)
- "…Moderator is the only user who has edited the page…" — this could prevent you from requesting the deletion of your user page if I have reverted it. Which I have at least once. I'm not sure how to tinker with the wording to allow commonsense to have reign, but disallow loopholes. I may think a bit more on this later, but right now I've got 200 AP spend. Why the hell did I ever create so many goddamned characters? –Xoid S•T•FU! 06:16, 20 July 2006 (BST)
- Actually, the whole third instance is kinda confusing. Won't it be easier for a Moderator to be able to delete his own user subpages no matter what? The only situation this could be troublesome is if a moderator deletes proofs that can be used against him on his talk page or something like that, but contributions still show these edits right? and there's undeletion too. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 06:44, 21 July 2006 (BST)
- Pretty certain that they do not. However, you can check the deleted edits, and yes, M/U is always there is required. –Xoid S•T•FU! 03:09, 23 July 2006 (BST)
- How about this:
- A page has been created by a Moderator in the User namespace as a subpage of the Moderator's user page and the page contains no sustantial contributions from another users. In this case, the Moderator should make note of his or her deletion on UDWiki:Moderation/Moderator Page Deletions after he or she has deleted the page.
- May look crappy, but my main concern is to reactivate the discussion here. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 00:00, 7 August 2006 (BST)

- 3.A page has been created by a Moderator in the User namespace as a subpage of the Moderator's user page, the page has not been substantially changed by any user other than the Moderator, based upon the page's current revision history, and the page is not required for any significant reason. - Its ok, but with "substantial contributions" I meant a little more: The changes that, for example, that vandal made on your page and then Xoid made when reverting it, were substantial, but not a "contribution". Don't you think the same? --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 00:38, 9 August 2006 (BST)

- I changed the title and added the following parragraph to the guidelines, as I realized that they didn't cover undeletion at all. It includes the latest policy change made by Xoid (that still isn't approved, but is in his way to be so). Sorry, this was going to be here before but I went to eat and someone close all my browser's windows... Also, moved the discussion to this talk page so in the main we only see the latest version and not an oversized slab of text. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 03:41, 9 August 2006 (BST)
- The ability to undelete pages is restricted to Moderators, as normal users are limited to recreate pages. As such, in the case that a deleted page is in need to be restored, regular users can request the restoration trough the Undeletions page. Moderators may only undelete pages that have been requested to be restored trough this page, or that they themselves have deleted by mistake. The repeated recreation of deleted pages not going trough the Undeletions page is to be treated as Vandalism. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 03:41, 9 August 2006 (BST)
