1st August 2006

During August- January, The Surrealists as they were once known are no more:

Now active again

We regret the breakdown in tea and scone services throughout Malton's museums, but The Surrealists will return in one shape or another in months to come.

We have returned!

An extremist Surrealist has splintered from the main group, and is considered armed and dangerous. We advise caution when liable to damage artwork- there is no longer any moderate influence preventing more extreme methods of protecting artwork.

The extremist has been dealt with and is no longer a threat

The other members either find themselves in a state of undeath, or willing to take a break for a while

Therefore, membership is now open

Introduction

The Surrealists, a.k.a. Malton Art Force, are a fairly chaotic group and currently consist of rather ostentatiously dressed members. All those of a slightly odd disposition are welcome (no potatoes).

Timeline

June

June 22 2007 June again is still the best month for the surrealists, as the group has started its second renaissance under the leadership of Dux Ducis. Tea and scones are available for all on the talk page.

The policies of the Surrealists are still under development, and will be improved over the older, more archaic ones.

The Archive

For full details of each month, see the archives.

History

The Surrealists were founded in the midst of apocalyptic chaos in an Irish Bar in Malton, shortly before the whole zombie outbreak thing, in answer to the increasing abandonment of Maltons´ rich cultural artwork.

Objectives

The Surrealists remain an incoherent whole, and as such aims and objectives are somewhat difficult to pin down. General strategy has been observed however:

The Surrealists aim to secure and protect artworks. They appear to have been working at random however, selecting few of Malton´s most valuable or even culturally respected installations.

'Any looters will be hunted down and/or executed on sight

A secondary aim of raising awareness of Malton´s cultural plight appears to have been put into action, with severly limited success. It does appear that a spraycan in the hands of a Surrealist produces little by way of legible value.

Difficulties

There are many obstacles in the way of surrealist success. The largest of which being noone actually has any real clue what that entails.

The plan to protect Malton´s artwork is proving especially difficult however- they are constantly under threat from looters, gun wielding philistines, graffiti and the living dead. The Surrealists believe they will prevail however, as many of Malton´s citizens appear to disregard the major installations altogether.

Missions

Operation: Fine Art of Malton

  1. Log the location and contents of every museum.
  2. Protect said museums
  3. Open lucrative coffee shops throughout Maltons´ reestablished museums. Scone?

Operation: The 2nd Homecoming

  1. Choose a district to focus on. A quiet neighbourhood with regular bus access would be nice.
  2. Conduct a meeting on several important decisions facing the new era of The Surrealists.
  3. Based on the decisions of the meeting, secure the more important artworks and set up permanent powered base in the most vital building (for the second time.)

Long-Term Aims

1. Raise awareness of Malton´s cultural plight.

2. Produce artwork worthy of adding to the city.

3. Locate the fabled "Cubist Installation", rumoured to contain many squares, rectangles and many rare cuboids. Karloth vois 01:20, 26 June 2006 (BST)

4. Record the locations of Malton´s most precious artworks. Karloth vois 01:20, 26 June 2006 (BST)

5. Find a nice recipe for fried zombie lungs (non-smokers only).

6. Write a "Z" across the entire city, using only public transport.

7. Engage in some "Counter-Tourism", a là "Experimental Travel".

Uniform

The Surrealists, however seemingly less organised in nature, still have a uniform of sorts. Full suits, including top tats, pocket watches and vests, though not compulsory are expected however. A mask to hide your identity from the common rabble is compulsory.
