If someone else suggested this today, I'd vote kill (well dupe actually, but it'd be a kill if I hadn't already suggested it.)
Designing it so that the transmitter could not be located by one player but could be located by five players was a mistake, because it rewards multi-character abuse in a way that would be almost impossible to detect. Your five alts could have radios tuned to the same frequency without being anywhere near each other, and one of them could go and PK the radio operator. Your non-multi-abusing rivals would have to make the effort to metagame if they wanted to locate your radio.

Pre-emptive warm up discussion thingy
I can guess what this is going to be about. It'll involve using GPS in order to locate a particular player. The question is how will it be done? -- Cheese 21:41, 15 May 2008 (BST)
directional antenna
is this a new item required for this? if so how come details of this and where it could be found and at what percentages were not included? --Scotw 15:48, 17 May 2008 (BST)
- No, there is no new item. This is mentioned in the description. --Explodey 23:23, 18 May 2008 (BST)
Dupe?
To those who claim this suggestion is a dupe, are you referring to this suggestion? If so then I disagree because the location ability is:
- Much weaker than the direction finding ability described here, and it's very unlikely you'll find the location of a transmitter using it. What it will tell you is if the message came from a suburb on the opposite side of the city where the same frequency is re-used by another group (officially or not.)
- The less important of the two abilities. The important one is voice recognition.
- Based on distance not direction
- Available to zombies (because you only need to hear the sound.) This one isn't (because you tweak the antenna and controls whilst listening to the message.)
There's room for both suggestions to be implemented, and I'd like to see both implemented. If so it would make sense for them to share the same skill. --Explodey 23:26, 26 May 2008 (BST)

I've changed my mind about this one
If someone else suggested this today, I'd vote kill (well dupe actually, but it'd be a kill if I hadn't already suggested it.)
Designing it so that the transmitter could not be located by one player but could be located by five players was a mistake, because it rewards multi-character abuse in a way that would be almost impossible to detect. Your five alts could have radios tuned to the same frequency without being anywhere near each other, and one of them could go and PK the radio operator. Your non-multi-abusing rivals would have to make the effort to metagame if they wanted to locate your radio. --Explodey 00:50, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
