Preamble:
This suggestion is meant help the survivor cause by including an in-game mechanic which would allow a non-meta gaming method of gaining barricade level information of surrounding buildings. The skill differs from the use of Flare Guns in that very specific information can be delivered via flavor text where as flares can be fired to signify practically anything, or nothing at all. Signaling via flare must also be done from outdoors and so is not a value added option in many scenarios.
Description:
Shout is the survivor equivalent to the Zombie skill Feeding Groan. When a building's barricade level reaches Lightly or below, survivors are able to shout into the streets, beckoning survivors up to 4 blocks in any direction to aid with building defense.
Skill Tree and Cost: Shout is a subset of the Civilian skill Construction and costs 100XP for all survivors.
Flavor:
To those shouting:
- You have no reason to shout. (There there is no immediate threat to this building.) (Barricades above Lightly Barricaded)
- You shout in astonishment. (Lightly Barricaded) - 2 block radius
- You shout loudly into the streets. (Loosely Barricaded) - 3 block radius
- You shout alarmingly into the streets. (Doors secured or wide open) - 4 block radius
Shouting as heard by others:
- You heard a loud commotion from inside the building. (If the shout comes from your current location)
- You heard loud shouting X blocks to the <direction>.
Additional flavor text will be added to signify if the shout is "familiar" (originating from a member of your group)
To keep Shout consistent with the Feeding Groan skill, only humans would be aware of shouting. It is assumed that Zombies either cannot here them or just choose to ignore them.

Kill Votes
- I don't think there needs to be any more survivor communication than we already have. If we don't count any form of meta-communication, there's already the radio, mobile phones, graffiti, and talking (for a total of four), compared to the zombie's Death Rattle, Feeding Groans, and Flailing Gestures (for a total of three). - Kill - How often is it that there are people in the streets, apart from newbs, Feeding Drag victims and the odd hiding PKer? It would very, very rarely come up to have an effect at all. Also, denying zambahz to hear a shout makes no sense flavour-wise. -- Spiderzed▋ 19:12, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

That's not consistent- its straight up an excuse. Survivor can hear feeding groans just fine- if they happen to be outside when the noise is made. If the zombie is inside a building, they can't hear any feeding groans. If you want it to be "consistent", make shout work the same way. Of course, that would make it pretty useless.
So, to be consistent, if survivors can hear shouts from inside buildings, zombies should be able to hear groans from inside buildings.
