RE:News Pages
You're doing it right. There's really no procedure. You just copy and paste the old news into the archive. That's pretty much all there is to it. As for time frames of archival, I suppose the best time would be once a month. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:05, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I did say I was siding with you less, not completely siding with harrison. I guess you have to earn your place here a bit. I suppose it's because on a big, professional wiki like wikipedia, people come and go. On this wiki, people kinda build up relationships because of the small player base and drama that happens around here. At least, that's what I think. Anyway, if you have any more questions (or opinions), I'd be happy to hear them. The sysops are open to questions, too, as you can see from axe hack above. Think of this as my apology, explanation, welcome, and tips, all rolled into one. Have a nice stay on this wiki! -- † talk ? f.u. 17:02, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
- My comment was more aimed towards Sexual, because he seemed really actively angry about it. I totally get where you were coming from. :) Here's hoping that we can work together to make this a fun and helpful site.--Shortround 17:11, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

Yo, hey
Since you seem to be so intent on helping out, you could help with UDWiki:Projects/Very Funny...or Not. It's not getting as much traffic as it should (along with a lot of other pages on this wiki, anyway). I've taken the project over for now, but it's not going anywhere without votes. There's also a link in my sig. -- † talk ? f.u. 14:17, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- I'll have a look today when I get home from work. :) --Shortround 10:53, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
Admin Page Cycling
Hey sorry about the revert. I didn't realize immediately what you were up to. Thought you were just removing the vote since it had closed. We have a newish admin page cycle method which is outlined here. This method does preclude users without "teh buttons" from cycling things, however.
See some discussion here for the thought process behind going with this method. I'm glad to see someone taking the initiative, though. You're the only person, sysop or otherwise, besides myself and Axe hack that has shown any interest in it for more than a year now.
Since you've already done most of the work, we can just go with what you've done today for this month's archives. Thanks for the help. ~ 23:55, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I looked at the archived pages from December and tried to see what had happened with them so that I could do the same for January. :P --Shortround 10:53, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

hey when you replace the content of a spam page. use {{BP}} or {{spambot}} to replace the content with. makes it easier to spot. also have you checked out this page? --User:Sexualharrison15:21, 2 February 2012 (bst)

status unknown
If updating Mall statuses or other building statuses as unknown after a period of time, you can always give Template:Un a go. Just do {{Un|Safe|15/03/2012}} if {{{1}}} is the last status and {{{2}}} is the date it was made. Not mandatory obviously. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 03:43, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- I had a look and it seems a lot less "personal" as it were. I think having a message to update if possible is really important, but I'll probably try to work this in on future attempts. Something like the message followed by a message to update or something. Or I could be lazy and not change my terrible ways.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 13:43, 31 March 2012 (BST)
Good thing
...that someone has finally caught ye olde Misanthropy A/RE. Now if someone would do the same with ye olde promotion bids...
Speaking of which, sometimes between next week and in a month you will have reached the couple of months mark since your most recent bid. I still think you need to turn a bit more visible on the opinion pages to have a chance. A/RE and A/D are a good start, but most people are going to be most interested into your opinion on A/VB cases before they give you the power to rule there. Especially contested cases like Generaloberst (2) and (3) are good for talk page commenting. -- Spiderzed█ 15:25, 30 April 2012 (BST)
- Thanks! I'll make sure to comment on those talk pages when controversial cases come up, but as I said before I don't really see a purpose when I don't have anything interesting or unique to contribute and those were pretty straightforward cases where I agreed with the majority rule. :P I'll think critically of cases as they come up.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 15:27, 30 April 2012 (BST)
- Oh wait, Oberst 2 was the really weird one wasn't it? Don't know how I feel about it. We have pretty clear case law against racism and it's TOS, so would have made sense for that to be vandalism. Commenting on a closed case after Karek told him not to is probably only soft warning territory.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 15:32, 30 April 2012 (BST)
- Case #2 might not be as clear and shut as you might think. Racism has been handled quite inconsistent in the past, as has been the handling of the TOS. We had escalations like this, this or this, but also soft warnings like this, and even unpunished moves like that.
- As for A/VB commenting in general, it is generally expected that sys-op candidates show their stance towards and knowledge of the more sensitive wiki rules that might get users escalated - it is the power that needs to be executed most responsibly, and the one power most users are wary of before they grant the buttons to anyone. Vandal Banning and Misconduct commenting are just the best way to do that. -- Spiderzed█ 15:53, 30 April 2012 (BST)
- When it comes to the cases you cited as going against the precedent: (1) The Misanthropy Case: There's a fairly large distinction between the two (although personally the Mis case kind of looks like vandalism). (2) The Cornholioo case was closed by Boxy with the following ruling: "I've given him a soft warning, any more of this on admin pages, and it's warning/ban time". Oberst 2 is the clear continuation of that behaviour (even if he wasn't Cornholioo he's made clear he was intimately familiar with Cornholioo's VB history. The two cases you cited make it clear that persistent behaviour is what gets punished and Oberst had done it consistently without a doubt.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 16:00, 30 April 2012 (BST)

- The proxy debate in May looks promising too. Speaking of May, there is still the monthly cycling of admin pages, with the added challenge of users having created May cases in the April version.
