Rules

Please take a moment to read over these rules. For more detailed list of rules, CLICK HERE

1. No zerging.
2. No leaving the playing field once the event starts.
3. Only kills between 10-25-2010 and 11-7-2010 within the playing field will count.
4. Kill Reports must be submitted before 11-7-2010 to count towards points.
5. Please post links to kill report screenshots, do not post the images themselves.
6. Only Kills as a survivor will count.
7. Team with the most points at the end of the event wins.
8. Teams will need to be mostly balanced before the event begins. Please keep this in mind when picking a team.
9. Losing team must subject themselves to the firing squad, even if they are dead.

The whites weren't monarchists, they were led by Kerensky and Denikin, the former of whom wanted conciliatory government without a monarch, and the latter of whom wanted a military dictatorship. Ah, but many of the soldiers fighting for the White Army wished to see the return of the Monarchy. Others wanted to continue the war against the Central Powers or they opposed the government's atheist views. New Location

Because of the current status of the suburbs chosen for the event (and because Rage in the Age did it first) we'll be moving the location of the event to the Judgewood Darvall Height area. I hope this decision does not inconvenience anyone. In the interest of keeping the event fun, it made sense to move it to a safer location.--~ 23:46, 26 September 2010 (BST)

The twins will be most welcomed. I'd like it if the teams were mostly balanced. I know a lot of people will likely want to join the soviets. Keep in mind the Red Army was not all that popular at the time (they later gained popularity when Trotsky became General). Not sure where you got those numbers. It was much more evenly matched. 3M Reds and 2.4M Whites at the height of the war. Whites also had Allied Intervention which made the gap only about 500,000 soldiers in favor of the Reds. My point was, at the beginning of the war, during the October Revolution (the era on which this hunt is centered) the Reds were pretty unpopular outside of St. Petersburg. --~ 15:58, 20 September 2010 (BST)

I got it from the fact that I've done in-depth historical studies on it. The war allies of the tsar never entered combat during the civil war. The largest single force the whites held was roughly 40,000 Czech legion soldiers led by Kolchak and the directory government. Apart from that, there were Denikin and Kerensky. Kerensky had 600 Kossacks who surrendered before any real combat, and Denikin lasted until 1920 when he was defeated. The Polish had a larger army, but weren't in any way affiliated with the Whites. Later, there was an uprising by the greens (once again not the whites) who had a largish force but were just peasants. all though this, the Red Army was the largest force, which peaked in 1920 at 5 million. They managed this through conscription, and then sent in Cheka agents to kill any deserting soldiers. Protip: Don't use Wikipedia.--Yonnua Koponen ^{Talk ! Contribs} 16:06, 20 September 2010 (BST)

Alright, I'll give you that the written history (not all Wikipedia) that I read was likely skewed. The sources you cited above does state that the Reds did not reach those numbers until 1920, though. What did you learn of the October Revolution during your studies? Did it not state that the Soviets were unpopular at that time? Was this information I've read skewed as well? Nah, it's ok, it's a darn interesting subject. The Bolsheviks (the ones who took power) were unpopular until 1917, when they became by far the most powerful force in the country. In terms of whites v Reds, there were very few people in the country supporting the old government. Most people wanted reform, but didn't know where they wanted it. Realistically, though, by mid-October 1917 (just before the revolution), the Bolsheviks were the dominant force in the Petrograd Soviet. Not even the nobility were truly loyal to the tsar and the Provisional Government, but they'd have supported more Menshevik or SR policies.--Yonnua Koponen ^{Talk !
