20071025 No Outdoor Search Button

Jon Pyre 18:15, 25 October 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Common sense

Suggestion scope
Interface, Being outdoors

Suggestion description
Why is there a search button when you're outside? As far as I know there isn't anything there to look for. It seems like the only purpose of the search button there is to trip up new players into wasting a handful of AP before they figure out it isn't going to work.

Keep Votes

  1. ? --Jon Pyre 18:15, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - There's no point in providing tactically useless options, like searching outside, to players (unless the option is particularly fun, which I don't think applies to searching outside). This vote'd be different if the search odds were higher, but I don't see value in keeping a button no-one ever uses. Plus removing it would slightly decrease screen clutter and bandwidth used. --Toejam 20:36, 25 October 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - No. There's a random chance of finding some useful stuff outside. Small cahnce but random. Oh, and It's not just your suggestion, but what's with the assumption that New players are all naive and dumb? Surely, we all had to learn, and did. Is it worth providing a handholding newbie player service for the few who aren't capable of learning and massively reducing the fun of the game?--SeventythreeTalk 18:31, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - I didn't think stuff could be found outside, but in light of Pavluk's link this gets a kill. --Zombieslay3r 19:56, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Not spam worthy. BoboTalkClown 20:08, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - Because it's a bad Idea--Rictor Stilwell 21:15, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  5. No. Because you can find something, and it should siphon AP from new players. It is painful learning lessons like that, but they make folks stronger.--Sarah Silverman 21:29, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - You mean to tell me I cannot search outside? -- John RubinT! ZG FER 22:10, 25 October 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - there's a search button outdoors because stuff gets found outside. --Pavluk A! E! 18:29, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - though I doubt that I need to say this, perhaps this would have benefited from the Help, Developing and Editing section --Ryiis 18:33, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - because the suggestion is based on an error: it is in fact possible to find stuff outside. guns, knives, cell phones have all been found, and lord knows what else... a slim chance, but you can find things... --WanYao 18:40, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Pointless and unnecessary change, & as all above. --Slightly Lions 18:57, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - As above.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 19:05, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Spam - Aboot up thar.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 19:07, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  7. Spam - don't spread myths, look at link Pavluk gave instead --~~~~ [talk] 19:38, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  8. Spam- Spray cans for me, please! --VkkhamulT! A! FU! U 21:58, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  9. Spam - Xmas trees, plus fuel cans in carparks. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 22:04, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  10. Spam – Completely unnecessary. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 22:29, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  11. Ham - There is stuff outside.Studoku 22:39, 25 October 2007 (BST)
  12. Spam - Even if Pavluk wasn't completely right I'd still vote spam on the ground that you shouldn't suggest things that restrict game development or user mistake.--Karekmaps?! 23:12, 25 October 2007 (BST)
