Desu Nōto

Sorry man, but no userpage redirects in the mainspace, it's a scheduled deletion. I suggest using a "under construction" template instead or something. There's a policy discussion ongoing about this, may want to check that out too. -- Cat Pic.png Thadeous Oakley Talk 18:46, 1 August 2011 (BST)

I know. I'll fix this soon as I find the template. I could never quite remember what the exact lettering of that template were... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 18:49, 1 August 2011 (BST)
{{construction}} ? -- Cat Pic.png Thadeous Oakley Talk 18:52, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Thank you Thad. And I've moved everything that was in the Sandbox on over to the page. The main article should be almost complete. Since I have you here...Just trying to spur some interest in the group. Interested? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 18:55, 1 August 2011 (BST)
The group resolves around an interesting idea, although I'm pretty sure it's from some anime. I don't really play much UD these days so I doubt I'll be of much use, but thanks regardless. Good luck with it though :) -- Cat Pic.png Thadeous Oakley Talk 19:08, 1 August 2011 (BST)
It's true it's slightly based off the Manga/Anime. Hence why I still have to fill in that Disclaimer at the bottom of the page. And it's a shame you won't be joining in. It'd be pretty cool if you did. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:12, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Death Note is a quite a popular anime/manga, I believe that it's mentioned on the actual page.
On a side note: may I join? I have a pker who I'm sure Red Rum wouldn't mind detaching for a bit of freelance occassionally.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 20:13, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Feel free to join in whenever the group launches. For now, I'm just trying to see where I can fit the "Death Note" portion of the group. What would you recommend, General? Place it on the main page or a sub-page? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:22, 1 August 2011 (BST)
I don't think you'll get written permission from any group leader of Annus Horribilis since there is no leader but my AH alt would likely be involved once desu noto gets off the ground. ~Vsig.png 20:25, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry about the permissions part. I just included it mainly for any pro-survivor who wants to be a part of Desu Nōto, since indicated targets written down can also be PKer and zombie characters. Pro-survivors should probably make sure the group they're with, if they are in another group, is OK with them participating in Desu Nōto. I didn't want to cause too much trouble between groups, after all. Of course, it's free reign to write down a name as well. I think it gives a bit of an assassin-for-hire feel to it in a way. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:01, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Ok good deal. Hey on a unrelated note I'm going to get cracking on Red October 2 in the very new future. Since you're such an aficiando of manhunts, I was hoping you could help spread the word using your normal routes of manhunt notification. I'm afraid i lack the same points of contact and I would hate for any of the regular manhunt participants to be left unnotified. Also, hope to see you on the playing field this coming October/November. ~Vsig.png 21:31, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Once I see the RO2 page, you've got yourself a deal. Perhaps I'll plan another AHMH after RO2. Hm... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:37, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Of course, I shall be forced to destroy anybody who joins this group. Emot-argh.gif --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 21:42, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Now now. Aren't you Raye Penber? You're nothing to worry about. L and Near, on the other hand... ;P --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:59, 1 August 2011 (BST)

Well my OXIII alt would either have to co-exist in the two groups or just stay in Desu-noto. It is a rather interesting idea. Would you like me to help any in the coding? I work well with plans and/or guidelines :P        23:26, 1 August 2011 (BST)

Co-existing in two groups is absolutely fine with Desu Noto (although written consent from the leader of the other group will be needed to make sure the other group is absolutely fine with some of their members in Desu Noto. Since I'm the mastermind behind Org13, I'm absolutely fine with co-existence), just so long as knowledge and trade secrets aren't leaked between groups. As for coding...Do you think you can help me figure out how to mess around with the font coloring? I was originally thinking a black background with white font to match the fonts used in those "Rules of Death Note" pages of Death Note (here's a reference picture), but I can never figure out how to mess with font colors. As for the actual "Death Note" page of the group where the targets' names are written and whatnot, it would be cool if you could pull off a loose-leaf paper look, kinda like an average notebook, I guess. Could make it look authentic in a way. If you could pull those two things off, I'd be really grateful, Mazu. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:52, 1 August 2011 (BST)
Well the loose leaf paper look will have to be an image used as a background which is easy enough if you can find a suitable one. Or actually I just had an additional Idea. It might be accomplished by stacking tables together and rotating them a little bit. Like on the seagulls sig. I made the font for the rules list white and the section header white. To change fonts either <span style="color: ;"> or <div style="color: ;"> is your friend. Try span first and if it doesn't work use div. Like on your numbered list I had to use div because span didnt do it.       02:36, 2 August 2011 (BST)
I see, I see. I have to keep that in mind. As for stacking tables. Do you think you can pull off a sort or ancient-loose-leaf paper look with it? It would probably look better if the "Death Note" pages look a bit worn. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:44, 2 August 2011 (BST)
One more thing...How do you get the NavBar and the Groupbox on either the same line (NavBar on the far left, Groupbox on the far right), or at least not leaving such a big-ass blank space (NavBar underneath the Groupbox)? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:57, 2 August 2011 (BST)
I'm not quite sure I'll have to play with it. Check out the Death Note page. I made it on a 13 inch screen s if you have much smaller it wont work. I'm unsure of what happens with larger screens. Assuming it displays correctly with the second large black box slightly showing from behind the actual page. I even made the table 850px by 1100px. Same ratio as a sheet of paper :P       04:25, 2 August 2011 (BST)
Oh and I got the group nav in the center. I just changed your <div align="right"> to <div aign="center">. Also when you close a div tag you only need to put </div>. I don't think it breaks anything if you put extra in the closing tag but I'm not sure.       04:34, 2 August 2011 (BST)
The NavBar positioning and the Groupbox positioning wasn't quite what I had in mind, but I guess it'll have to do for now. The coding you did for the Death Note page was actually pretty cool. We're one step closer to getting this group ready to launch. Thank you, Mazu. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 04:50, 2 August 2011 (BST)
The only issue I see with your current coding is the History's diff between revisions thing. The box in the back seems to cover up the right half of the difference between revision screen, so you can't really see what was revised when you're comparing the history. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 04:54, 2 August 2011 (BST)
Yeah I don't think we'll be able to use code like that for the death note page because it breaks and covers up stuff. I can move the navbar about anywhere you want it. Far right looked a tad weird so I went with center instead.       12:46, 2 August 2011 (BST)
The coding for the Death Note page...What if we eliminate the box in back and replace it with something similar to what your PK character's subpage has? In keeping with Japanese literature reading right-to-left, have the right side read "Death" and the left side read "Note". With the letters arranged in a similar fashion to the Manga's logo? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:45, 2 August 2011 (BST)
How does that look?       18:47, 2 August 2011 (BST)
It looks pretty good. Although, do you think you can center them a bit? They look a bit close to the edge. I'd probably lower them a bit to make them more centered top-to-bottom. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 18:58, 2 August 2011 (BST)

Hm. Is there a requirement to carry out each death note, or can members opt out if they disagree with the target selection? -- Spiderzed 19:11, 2 August 2011 (BST)

You could opt out. Although there might probably be more than one name written down at any given time. You don't necessarily have to kill targets you don't want to kill. Although...If there is a cause of death written with the name, the cause of death must be the killing blow. IE: Someone writes "Example Man - Stabbed to death with a kitchen knife", the target would obviously be "Example Man", and the killing blow must be with a knife. If no cause of death is written, any killing blow will be fine. Think of DN as a manhunt. Once a name is written down, if they are found by DN members, they will (hopefully) die. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:22, 2 August 2011 (BST)
Sally might help you then to get this kicked off. Not sure if I will stick for the long term. -- Spiderzed 20:18, 2 August 2011 (BST)
Fair enough. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:28, 2 August 2011 (BST)

They are a bit lower and more centered I think? And don't worry about when people have small windows the scrolly thing will just tuck in behind the main section instead of covering it up.       19:15, 2 August 2011 (BST)

It looks fine. Now as for the members list. Any ideas? I can't quite put my fingers around how the members list will look. There should probably be a page to report target sitings too, I suppose. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:22, 2 August 2011 (BST)
I was wondering the same for the members list. As for target sightings all that would really be needed is a screenshot then timestamp it. Add in a clock that updates on its own for easy comparisons. Make sure all screen shots are in link format and not images. That gives

Kill list: Current Time: (Clock)

Victim's name, Last seen: (link to screenshot), signed/timestamp

       19:31, 2 August 2011 (BST)

That works for me. "Shinigami Eyes" on DN's NavBar might be the page we use to report locations. Maybe. We should probably make note that anybody can report a location, similar to how anyone can add a target. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:43, 2 August 2011 (BST)
I don't have the time now but I'll try and throw some formatting up on the members list and the new page.       19:54, 2 August 2011 (BST)
I'll start thinking up on how the two pages should look like. I'll even think up of a template or something for reporting locations/adding a name. Perhaps something similar to the template CORAM uses for their radio advertisements page. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:59, 2 August 2011 (BST)

Some people in SDN's irc room are expressing concerns with DN being abused by griefers. Mainly, random trenchies or other similar griefers adding a long list of people they want dead in a single day. Does anyone here think we should limit the number of times one can add a name to the list per week or whatever? And if so, how many names should one be allowed to add per week? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:12, 3 August 2011 (BST)

Rather...Will anyone care if I add this line to the rules: "If you add more than four names to the note per week, all the names you've added on that week will be rendered exempted from death." or something like that? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:26, 3 August 2011 (BST)
I wouldn't worry about it. We can keep a kill list and if we noticed someone's name has been put up too often well just leave them be. Considering this group sort of lives or dies by submissions to the list I wouldn't limit the number too low.        05:40, 3 August 2011 (BST)

I would also like to join in. I'm pretty sure our group leader will agree. --Snowflakez.jpg Murderous Snowman Snowflakez.jpg 07:10, 4 August 2011 (BST)

Feel free to join in at anytime. The more the merrier, you could say! --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 14:45, 4 August 2011 (BST)
