XP for Barricade Bashing

Timestamp: ZombieCrack 22:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Type: Balance change, improvement.
Scope: Zombies
Description: This idea would allow zombies to gain a limited amount of XP for attacking barricades. Each time the zombie successfully attacks the barricade (i.e. results in a collapse) the zombie would gain 2 XP. As current UD wiki data suggests the success rate for zombie attacks on barricades is 1/2 of their base attack rate. This equates to 25% for zombies with Death Grip skill, 15% for those without. 2 XP per successful attack would amount to 24-26 XP/day for zombies with Death Grip, 14-16 XP/day for those without. These figures are for a full 50AP spent bashing, not including movement, etc. New zombies can be very difficult to level, mainly because they can only gain XP through combat with each other or with humans. I think this is one of the main reasons many see them as less desireable to play. Survivors have many ways to earn XP becides combat. Reviving (10XP), First Aid (5XP), DNA extraction (4XP), Dumping Bodies (1XP per body), Repairing Buildings (1XP), Tagging certain buildings (1-2XP w/ Tagging skill), Reading (1-2XP 10% chance). Most of these things help the survivor "cause" if you will and are rewarded. Bashing cades helps the zombie cause and should also be rewarded.

Discussion

Spooky, I was thinking of something similar... but the problem with the idea is that barricades don't fight back. Even ZK-ing is riskier than this form or XP harvest. Of course, on the other hand, medics get XP for healing people, and that's not very risky either. This idea might also be helpful to noob survivors, because it would reduce the overall barricadedness of the city, making it easier for non free runners to find a place to hide. Also, this is one way of making zombies more fun without nerfing survivors, and thus it would get my keep vote even though the XP should maybe be a little less. --Cman yall 00:05, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Note to ZombieCrack...I could have sworn I seen this suggestion before and you can as well be prepared to have this suggestion Duped out by certain voters. --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 00:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes I just found some similar suggestions under Undecided in November 2005, and March 2006. The main differences between my idea and the others is Nov.'05 suggested XP for tries as well as successes, this suggestion rewards only successes. March 2006 gave 3 XP only for opening a building, personally I think thats not a significant amount of XP for the AP spent. I believe mine is different enough not to warrant dupe, thanks for the heads up. ZombieCrack 01:11, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
  • This one will be duped I'm afraid. And XP for barricade bashing has always been very unpopular. I'd vote against this one. I'd maybe consider such a suggestion if the XP gained per day was similar to something like survivors deciding to stay in the library reading books. New zombies have to learn to search out easy meals by following larger hordes about I'm afraid -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 06:51, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I believe that there is something similar to this in PR. Could quite easily get duped. Still, I'm all for this. With the current imbalance, zombies are in a seriously bad position. We need a way to keep new zombies in the game. 14-16 XP per day isn't much (it'd still take about a week to get to 100XP, which seems to be about how long it takes for your average survivor), and zombies would still get more XP by hanging around with a horde. This just helps newbies who are having difficulty finding somebody to horde with. -Cutlet 07:53, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

And here's that dupe link. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 16:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Make it 1xp and i would vote keep but only if there was a point for noob zeds! As it is though they can't open the door so bashing cades is pointless to them personally and pointless actions should not get XP! This would really benefit zeds from level 3 or 4 on and of course zergers and the second of these points is the one that will get it killed by those not voting dupe--Honestmistake 18:11, 30 January 2007 (UTC)!

Sorry, this will never ever get passed. IMO it seems strange to give a zed XP for bashing an immobile object.--SporeSore 14:13, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

It already HAS passed. Look at Funt's link. Also the idea of giving zombie XP for attacking barricades is because zombies have so FEW ways to actually obtain it. Survivors can heal, attack, tag, DNA extract, revive, read, and dump bodies. Zombies can ONLY attack. And barricades ARE a legitimate target (not to mention being an important focal point of the game).--Pesatyel 05:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Looks like its been implemented, yay!!! ZombieCrack 18:59, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, as of 2nd February 2007, it has been implemented. 1xp is gained by successfully bringing down the barricades by one level.--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:43, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Damn, that's gotta be some kind of record- a suggestion that got implemented before it even left the discussion page. Does it now get moved this to the "implemented" page or what? BTW, the implemented XP reward is really tragically low- bitting other zombies still earns you XP 2-3 times faster. --Swiers X:00 23:56, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

  1. No... this was suggested a long time ago. The old one will be moved.--Gage 23:58, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Trash

Timestamp: Nimble Zombie 21:05, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Type: New Object
Scope: People searching in junkyards
Description: I suggest that instead of saying that you didn't find anyhing while searching in a junkyard, it says
You look around but can only find a handful of trash.

when you find a worthwitle piece of garbage. There is one Trash per day, and the first person to search in a junkyard gets that yard's Trash. Otherwise it says

Even the trash has been taken!

Search rates are not affected. The new object, Trash, takes up no space and does nothing, but is instead a trading item. People can give trash to one-another at the cost of 1 AP. Trash can be dropped, but doing so gives you a message that says you are a litterbug.

Discussion

There are useful stuff located in junkyards, like cellphones, bats, gennys, fuel, and stuff like that. Don't take that away. --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 00:16, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Line twelve: QUOTE: SEARCH RATES ARE NOT AFFECTED. Unles you take it that the search rates for cellphones now become search rates for trash, then actually read through the whole thing. --Nimble Zombie 06:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
  • This is basically a flavor addition to junkyards. I think it would just be an annoying one myself, another useless thing to drop. (Oh, and junkyards are, I think, scrap yards rather than garbage dumps) -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 06:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Enough shit in junkyards already - don't add more. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 16:54, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Why? God forbid, we have trash in our junkyards! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD! --Nimble Zombie 03:44, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
What, then is the point? You mean to tell me on a failed search, we find "trash" or what? How exactly does this even work? And it is POINTLESS because, the FIRST person of the day finds it only? WTF? I could see this EVERYWHERE as flavor text on failed searches, but this is just too idiotically specific.--Pesatyel 04:05, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Why would I want trash? --Jon Pyre 04:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
? I just meant as flavor text instead of the regular text. Instead of "you find nothing" it could say "just some trash, nothing of value."--Pesatyel 06:40, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
