Description

St. Josephine's Church is a Corinthian Baptist church located in the very southwest corner of the suburb of Pescodside. The church is in fact so close to the neighboring suburbs of Rolt Heights, Gibsonton, and Dunningwood that many of its pre-"Malton Incident" parishioners were commonly from those suburbs. As such, St. Josephine's Church was often seen as a junction point where people from the outlying suburbs could meet and get to know one another. Of course after the zombie epidemic started the church has seen few, if any, religious services.

Of the original clergy there is no sign, but a stark note was found carved into one of the church's oak doors:

O that Thou wouldst slay the wicked, O God; depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.
For they speak against Thee wickedly, and Thine enemies take Thy name in vain.
Do I not hate those who hate Thee, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against Thee?
I hate them with the utmost hatred; they have become my enemies (Psalm. 139:19-22).

It was a very large door.

Mandate

Normally, as a church, St. Josephine's Church is an ideal shelter for inexperienced survivors seeking to stay off the streets at night. An unspoken rule is that survivors assist with the barricades should they ever drop below Very Strongly, but over-barricading should only happen when protecting against zombie sieges. Afterwards barricades would be lowered when the danger has passed, so as to keep an "open door" policy. Unfortunately this policy, while common with most churches in Malton, conflicts with the barricade policy set by the Burchell Arms Regulars who consider the church among their fortifications around the Burchell Arms.

Also, due to its proximity to zombie-infested Dunningwood, survivors are asked be cautious and always on alert while staying at the church. In the past zombies from either the Drunken Dead or Dead Animals - Redux might choose to siege the church without provocation.

War Psalm of the Survivor

Those that willingly pilgrimage to St. Josephine's Church are those men and women who have seen too much tragedy and death to show pity for their enemies. They have channeled this anger into grim determination and have sworn not to rest until the menace of the walking dead has been silenced.

PSALM 18

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were destroyed.
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.
They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

Affiliates

St. Josephine's Church, not being a resource building or home to any known group, does not have any affiliates. Even so, survivors staying there can still seek assistance from survivors at the nearby Mylrea Walk PD (89,20) in Gibsonton should a zombie mob ever siege the church.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the barricade plan set forth by the Burchell Arms Regulars as well as the mutually agreed-upon Pescodside Barricade Plan set forth by local survivor groups and the Dulston Alliance, all of whom routinely monitor the barricade level for this building. This building is meant to serve as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors, and thus requires the Free Running skill to be properly utilized. May God have mercy on those poor souls left trapped outside during such a time of strife.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the B.A.R. present at that time. If this happens the accused survivor must present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly.
