Planning

Codename V once said:

"Verily, we do always face uncertainty and terror. Right now I wish for my friends and allies to think once more about the middle of Malton, Ridleybank. I seek that you reignite the fire of battle and load up, stock up and get ready to move into the heart of Malton on the 5th of November. Show the badge of our cause on your pages. Brandish weapons, tool kits and the dexterity of greatness. This 5th of November, 2007, let us flood into Ridleybank like a burst dam and heal, recuperate and repair the centre of our fair city!"

The Fifth of November assault is one of the biggest survivor events of the year, except it hasn't happened in the last 2 years. For 10 years, Ridleybank has been one of the most well known suburbs in the city, and for 10 years, the RRF has claimed it as their homeland. This year, we retake Ridleybank from the hordes that claim it as theirs."

Lets make this a day for survivors to celebrate, and for zombies to fear again.

NecroConnect is running the 5th of November festivities, and providing spaces on their forums for both survivors and zombies to plan for the assault. --Jerran1 NecroConnect Creator/Admin 16:38, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

I'll shamble on up and sing at you. If I manage to drag Andrea Doria along, you can say that the Broadway Zombies reunited for this historic event. Whether or not we perform Titanic is entirely up to her, since she's playing the title role. --Snarfo (talk) 17:32, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

If you end up performing Titanic, you mind doing something about Jack's death scene? It always bugged me that he couldn't fit on that huge door. --Jerran1 NecroConnect Creator/Admin 18:20, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
If a harman is playing Jack, we'll just eat him. Door problem solved. Snarfo (talk) 00:55, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

What Went Down

Co-ordination and advertising, on both sides, began in mid-October 2015. Zombies moved into the area slowly, some arriving by way of Stanbury Village and Nichols Mall. Survivors met up in Vinetown and Roftwood before moving into TRPs in the greater Ridleybank area over the first days of November.

Going into the Fifth of November, most of Ridleybank was ruined but only at 5-10 AP repair (the big exception being Blackmore at 22AP repair as of November 1st). In the first few days survivors repaired, caded and dashed through a number of buildings in southern Ridleybank. A process of running into the suburb, repairing and barricading a building, and running back out dominated for the first couple of weeks — staging locations including TRPs in Roftwood, including buildings around Hildebrand Mall, and Bunney Street Police Department and Nichols Mall (at least until it fell on November 13th) in Stanbury Village; the on-site revive point was maintained by the DEM at Margery Avenue.

Meanwhile, zombies focused on holding the Blackmore Building, which remained primarily under zombie control until November 19th. That day, survivors first reclaimed and held the building. At that point, the event coalesced into a siege of Blackmore. At its peak on November 24th, there were about 70 survivors holding the building, with close to 70 zombies standing outside the building. Zombies mostly coordinated attacks in the early morning hours UTC (between about 2 and 7 am), and breaches became longer each day as more zombies moved into the area. The first zombie breach to hold occurred on the morning of November 26th, and, despite being pushed back later in the day, the barricades fell again early on the 27th, with about 40 zombies breaching the building.

By November 28th, Black Friday, Blackmore was occupied and in ruins and zombies were quickly breaking down the adjacent areas. St. Simon's and other nearby hospitals fell in the last two days of November. Ridleybank had fallen back into full zombie control within the first week of December (despite brief survivor runs back to Blackmore on December 2nd & 4th), and the Fifth of November event was wrapped up.

One special Fifth of November event was the performance of Titanic by the Broadway Zombies. This new take on a classic tale was presented in a mixed zombie-survivor performance. The show took place in the Kenworthy Building from November 5 to 8, and a recording can be found at the Titanic page.

The effects of the Fifth of November were felt throughout the city. Over the course of the siege of Blackmore, the citywide SZ ratio moved from 65-35, where it had been hovering for most of the year, to close to 55-45, with (zombies + dead bodies) outnumbering (survivors + revivifying bodies) for much of December. On the other hand, the pull of zombies into the siege meant that survivors were able to retake some previously zombie-held areas elsewhere in the city — notably, survivors in the northwest were able to take and hold Caiger Mall from the CLZA for the entirety of November.

The Fifth of November saw the participation of nearly 200 players from numerous groups, making it one of the biggest Urban Dead events of 2015.
