Border Patrol is dedicated to protecting Malton's borders to the north, south, east, and west. This group accepts dual-membership, and is glad to support other groups in the suburbs that Border Patrol has jurisdiction. Patrolling 396 individual blocks over 36 suburbs, this group maintains vigilance against all threats to Malton city borders and seeks to promote awareness of threats to all survivors.

Recruitment Drive
Border Patrol needs more members, always. We patrol 36 suburbs and maintain jurisdiction in 396 individual blocks. It takes more than 8 days worth of AP for a single patrol to complete, so this job cannot be done alone. If you are currently living in any of the border suburbs and wish to help, join us! We're especially interested in getting local survivor groups to become dual-members with Border Patrol and maintain their local border strip, but it is important that Border Patrol look after all of Malton's border blocks, and Border Patrol will always have members going clockwise or counterclockwise around the entire map. Those who are already members should be spraying a link to this page on border block buildings and asking others to join Border Patrol.
Reports Page
For all status reports on Malton's borders, please use the new reports page. Hopefully after a few weeks it can be a lot more up-to-date than it was originally, but in any case it contains suburb status colors and relevant mall information.
Border Status Reports
Border Patrol maintains a status reports page with reports from Border Patrol's entire jurisdiction. When making reports, keep in mind our sixth central tenet with regards to informing the locals of our concerns and leading them in taking care of any problems that arise.
Joining
To join, just add a url to this page to your character's description, with a statement that you are a member of Border Patrol. Border Patrol does not take up your precious group tag, as we accept dual-membership. Because our central tenets include keeping border blocks open to those without free-running, there is no skill requirement to join. As a member of Border Patrol, however, you may find that certain skills make your job easier.
Once you've joined, it's rather simple. If you are unwilling to patrol the entire Malton city border, you can stick to the border suburbs you are used to, and make sure that the blocks at the edge of the map are being maintained as per our central tenets. If you choose to go on extended patrol, make your way to the nearest edge of the map and start going clockwise or counterclockwise around Malton, and make sure that every block is in compliance with our central tenets as best you can.
Should you decide that protecting Malton's borders is no longer for you, simply remove the link to this page from your character description. We will be sad for you to go, but you may join again at any time, and we hope that you speak highly of us to others.
History
Border Patrol came into existence after the founder saw that the state of city's borders were in ruins in many suburbs. Visitors to Malton should enter the city and get a good first impression, not be shocked to see zombies everywhere and barricades impenetrable. While one should never judge a book by its cover, there's no reason we can't put our best foot forward.
Central Tenets
Border Patrol's most sacred rules are as follows:
- The borders of Malton must be free of the undead.
- The borders of Malton must be accessible to all who live.
- The borders of Malton must be free of danger from PKers.
- The borders of Malton must be lit up at all times.
- The borders of Malton must have access to communication.
- Those who patrol Malton's borders must protect, inform, and lead.
Every member of Border Patrol must try to live up to and promote these tenets as best as they are able.
A Border Patrol member:
- Kills any zombies they see in a border block.
- Barricades border buildings to VSB+2, and smashes barricades back down to this level should they be higher. The only exception being Buckley and Lumber Malls, which should be kept at EHB+4.
- Kills any PKer they see in a border block, and informs other citizens of PK threats.
- Installs generators and refuels them in border blocks.
- Installs radios, sets radios to appropriate frequencies, and ensures that phone masts with border coverage are working.
- Makes the Border Patrol known to all who reside in the border blocks, aides survivors in those border blocks in any capacity, and encourages others to join in the Border Patrol.
Other Policies
Besides our central tenets, Border Patrol has several other policies:
- Do not PK, except to eliminate PKers.
- Do not GK, except when destroying an already damaged generator, for the purpose of replacing it immediately afterwards. Due to recent changes in the game, using a toolbox and the construction skill, damaged generators can now be repaired instead, so do that and save your new generators for buildings without them.
- Be a good Malton citizen. Behave yourself on the radio and in person. Be friendly, helpful, and polite wherever possible.
- Do not break the rules of the game.
- Do not kill zombies at revive points unless they have brain rot. Revive them instead!
Border Patrol does not have policies on:
- Revives. You may revive whoever you wish and however you wish. Random revives are okay as far as Border Patrol is concerned, it is up to the individual.
- Dual-natured existence. We recognize that some of our members like to play as both zombie and survivor. As long as you follow our central tenets while in the survivor state, we do not care how else you play the game. Keep in mind that if you enter border blocks you will become a target of this group.
- Life-cultist. If, while as a zombie, you actively work to help survivors, this is not forbidden. It is up to the individual to decide how they play when they inevitably become dead. Keep in mind that if you enter border blocks you will become a target of this group.
- Multiple characters. You may have multiple characters or not, it's up to you, as long as you use them in a way that does not break the rules of the game.
