Lexicon:Humanitarian Supplies
I've never found one of the crates, myself. They claim that the black helicopters fly over in the middle of the night, and these crates drop from the sky on parachutes. Sometimes, when I'm setting up a barricade, I find a scrap of plywood with some weird stenciling on it; sometimes I recognize the letters 'NATO.' It's always in all capital letters, so I think it must be from the actual NATO guys in the outside world, and not just some good Samaritans calling themselves "Nato" or something. One time, I was hiding in some PD out in the Graysides and saw a plank in the barricade with the word 'SPARRO-' on it. I asked one of the other guys in there, and he said that the plank came from one of the crates. What the heck do sparrows have to do with anything?
I've heard all kinds of things about what's in the crates. One guy swore that the Yanks had started to airdrop some kind of superweapon to help us out, and that they were all in the hands of the MI5 operatives hidden in Malton. I laughed in the guy's face. Other people are a little less grandiose in their hopes; they expect things like AK-47s and explosives. But, once, I was talking to an old homeless man, who said he'd found three crates himself. According to him, there were nothing but MREs and a lone box of pistol ammo in 'em. I felt kind of sad, because the magic had sort of gone out of them... I guess it's too much to expect, that they'd give us something really effective to use on the zombies, but, a man has to hope. Otherwise, why not just lay down and die?
