The following audio transcript was found on a tape in the second floor of the Milverton Place Police Department. Timestamp unavailable.

Is this thing on?

Someone thumps the microphone.

Okay.

I don't know who's getting this message, and I don't much care. I just need to get it off my chest. If you're new here, it might even help.

Name's Jacob Rafe. I'm... aw, who am I kidding? I'm a tourist. A few of my friends talked me into coming here during the summer. They gave me a run-down of what they saw last time they visited. Sounded like a really nice place, and it was. Well, for a while, anyway. Now it's a prison, some god-forsaken impregnable fortress, cut off and abandoned, for all we know, by the entire damned world. They've been blatantly ignoring us for nearly two years now.

There is an audible sigh.

It's all politics, probably. I'd love to see the looks on their faces if they were in here, slowly dying with the rest of us. Between the walking dead, the supply shortages, and the paranoia, it's a wonder people don't keel over from exhaustion alone.

Right now, there's a dozen or so survivors holed up here in the Milverton Place PD. We had to break a hole in the barricades to get in, but Eric and I plugged it up with a desk. It's not much, but it's secure.

Laurie and Kayla are scrounging around for ammo, last time I heard. I don't quite know what's gotten into Laurie recently... she's been practicing a lot with that knife she found a week ago, almost took my ear off yesterday when she lost her grip on it.

I never got to see Kinch Heights before the outbreak. Pity, too, this place would have been nice to look at. Old homes, nice parks, clean air. Now, it's just like most anywhere else; empty streets, half-dilapidated buildings, and bodies everywhere, moving or not.

I've heard the rumors, that Necrotech set this whole thing up. Who hasn't? People here in Malton have tried to blame everything under the sun for the situation at one point or another. The government, the corporations... hell, I kid you not, somebody even brought up aliens at one point. Freaking aliens. Are we really getting that desperate?

Maybe I'll look into it when we can actually rest for once. After hearing those things moaning for hours on end yesterday, I just want some quiet. Just for a bit.
