Background
Malton Signal Corps (MSC) is a pro-survivor paramilitary group in the city of Malton. MSC is loosely modeled after the United States Army Signal Corps.
Activities
MSC is interested in maintaining, defending, using, and researching the communications infrastructure of Malton. Maintenance includes the installation and repair of radio transmitters, keeping transmitters and phone masts powered with a working generator, spraypainting, and cleaning spraypainted messages. Defense of assets includes the use of barricading and combat. The various methods of signaling available via the Malton communications infrastructure include common methods, such as radio and mobile phone communications, rebroadcasting of important messages across different communication channels, and less common methods, such as spraypainting, flare signaling, and strategic building lighting. MSC is further interested in researching the communications infrastructure, testing and confirming the range and reception of radio transmission, learning more about the emergency broadcast system, phantom masts, and external military reports. The group plans experiments and tests to discover and confirm information on these topics.
Headquarters
MSC is headquartered at The Denning Museum in Paynterton. MSC supports the Centers of Learning Policy, which demands that no violence is to be committed within a center of learning such as The Denning Museum.
Radio Frequency
Short-wave Radio Info | |
This group or location has a dedicated radio frequency.
Frequency: 26.50 MHz |
MSC maintains a dedicated radio frequency at 26.50 MHz, which transmits from headquarters. This is a closed frequency and requires the radio operation skill for transmission. All members are encouraged to always carry a radio tuned to this frequency in order to receive official MSC communications.
As communications professionals, members may also wish to carry additional radios tuned to the following frequencies:
- 25.92 MHz - Emergency Broadcast System -- Players must be in The Coram Building to transmit on this frequency.
- 25.96 MHz - External Military Reports - Regular transmissions by the external military on the status of various suburbs.
- 25.97 MHz - Fort Creedy - Players must be in Fort Creedy's storehouse to transmit on this frequency.
- 25.98 MHz - Fort Perryn - Players must be in Fort Perryn's southwestern storehouse to transmit on this frequency.
- 26.00 Mhz - Citywide frequency.
- Regional frequency of your current location. (26.02 for North-East Malton)
- Suburb frequency of your current location. (None for Paynterton)
Each radio adds 4% to your encumbrance and consumes 5 inventory slots. Carrying all 8 radios in this section will encumber you by 32% and will consume 40 of your 81 available inventory slots.
Uniform
The initial mission of all new MSC members is to acquire the proper uniform. MSC uniforms are available in both Forts Creedy and Perryn and consist of the following items:
- red beret
- dog tags
- khaki short-sleeved shirt
- camouflage jacket
- camouflage trousers
- black boots
Damaged or permanently soiled uniform components should be replaced as soon as possible; however, it is recognized that other duties often have priority, and given the current state of the city, it may not always be practically possible to immediately secure replacement items, especially for members working in remote areas far from Forts Creedy and Perryn.
