Note: I'm asking myself for this page to be deleted, since I think it's creating too much Wikidrama. My idea behind the suggestion was simply to give more "tools" for RP, and the discussion is turning into a nightmare of political correctness versus incorrectness, English geography, and personal religious belives. Aparrently I totally understimated the controversy religion can produce on the wiki, and it's getting totally out of hand. I didn't think I would get people so fired up, and it wasn't my intention-- Che -T GC X 08:04, 9 June 2007 (BST)

20070608 Malton's religion diversity

Che -T GC X 10:01, 8 June 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Building change.

Suggestion scope
some churches, survivors and zombies from other religions.

Suggestion description
I suggested that in churches you could find Religion related necklaces, like Rosary beads. (small necklace crucifixs) and medals of the saint the building is named after. Two users (Lucky 1uke and Queen Mum) asked for other religions to be included too, and that made me think malton is in need of at least some of the major religious groups representation. Simply put at least some churches should be changed (only in the name and description) to the folowwing: a mosque, a sinagogue, a buddist temple and a hinduism temple. Malton is too big to lack those, and it would add a lot of flavour and rol playing posibilities. I dont suggest the churches that should be changed, becouse I think kevan should pick them.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Author vote-- Che -T GC X 10:01, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep I think this is a briliant Idea. Adds flavour and interest. C'mon guys, let's not be all boring about it.--Seventythree 14:36, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Karek, Kevan is quite supportive for map changes. reread it and look here and second Malton is the size of a metropole with hundreds of churches and 5 cathedrals. With about 5% to 10% of the religious population being non-christian finding some religious buildings of other faiths is almost certain. It would be fun to include simply for flavor.-- Vista  +1  14:50, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - Imagine the role-playing possibilities: an anti-semetic Zed... --Charley C. 17:31, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Or a zed trying to eat only kosher survivors...-- Vista  +1  18:29, 8 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - The same as armareum, but just in Kill form. Leave religius conflicts out of game... --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 10:16, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - What does this have to do with anything? The buildings are in place now and in any well sized american or british town the likelyness of finding a noncatholic/christian church is extremely low. Just assume Malton either didn't have any or the portion of malton closed off didn't have any. Problem solved.--karek 10:27, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Moved discussion to the talkpage due to size issues.-- Vista  +1  18:29, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Pointless Flavor. --Saluton 14:51, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Re - can you say oximoron? If it adds flavour, it's not pointless-- Che -T GC X 15:01, 8 June 2007 (BST)
I'm going to step in and be pedantic here. Can you spell oxymoron. And actually looking at the article, an oxymoron is rather a compliment - since it has inherent purposefulness on intent for use (and humour). A contradiction in terms is probably more what you meant. :P armareum 18:32, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - Opens the door to a lot of pretty tasteless things, like kill-the-jew missions etc. --Toejam 15:22, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Re - What you mean something like this? doing tastefull or tasteless things depends on the users, not on additions to the game-- Che -T GC X 15:34, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill Whoah there. One Re per vote there, pal. --Magentaine 18:11, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Because if we did this, we're gonna have a lot of people requesting their religion to be put in. Yeah, Kevan could just ignore all the other requests, but I've seen some pretty heated up religious Zealots before, and if killing this suggestion means I won't have to see it again, great. If we can work this in with everyone's wants and needs, be my guest. Also, as someone touched up on it, the religious fighting that could erupt wouldn't be too pretty either. 7. Kill 1. This author's an athiest. 2. We don't need more divisons, more conflict in Malton. Nalikill 20:24, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill Just a bad idea. --Slowwber 20:37, 8 June 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - This just sounds like Political Correctness to me. I don't see any benefit, or need. armareum 10:06, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Re - Well the benefits are in the role playing aspect of the game, althought I admit there's no benefit beyond flavour. And for the politically correct part I'm an Atheist since my 10th birthday and in my honest opinion all religions are just scams-- Che -T GC X 10:20, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Re - I wasn't trying to say that you were suggesting this to be PC, since I saw your origin of this suggestion. However since it's such a pointless addition, any inclusion would only be PC, as far as I can see. It's not inconceivable that a town in UK only has Churches. armareum 11:45, 8 June 2007 (BST)
Re - Malton is a city not a town, find me and english city wich has 5 cathedrals an not even one temple of a non christian religion and I will delete the suggestion myself-- Che -T GC X 15:12, 8 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Total Dupe. Yes, I am lazy and cannot be bothered finding the link. However, name changes for the religious buildings has been suggested many times. Please check the archives before you suggest something people! Also, There would be many more churches than mosques and synagogues. It's England. Protestant capital of the world. The Anglican church anyone? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:55, 9 June 2007 (BST)
I did seach for it, and didnt find it, and on the protestant, and all the other religions that are branches of the christianity (more than 20 check the link on the suggestion) almost all of them call "church" to their places of adoration (althought is true some of them use "temple"). I'm not saying all should be renamed, just 3 or 4 in total-- Che -T GC X 04:59, 9 June 2007 (BST)
