The General

I have been here since the 26th November 2005, and i've made just over 500 edits and I am currently working on a suggestion on the discusion page which will be posted on the main suggestions page some time in the next couple of weeks. I've been hanging around the suggestions page for a while voting on suggestions and discusing policy so most of you should know me. I have also been cycling the suggestions pages whenever I can. I think the main arguament against me would probably be that I can be slightly sharp with people posting bad suggestions. All in all, I would very much like to be a moderator and think that I would make a good addition to the moderating team.--The General 13:02, 29 Jan 2006 (GMT)

  • Seems like a level headed guy, and helps with arbitration. --Zaruthustra 21:23, 29 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • A guy thay I would vote for almost any day. --Penance 21:01, 30 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I support him. I do not know why I do, I just do --ramby Talk 12:04, 14 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • level headed, his arbitration cases seem very evenhanded. I have never seen anybody have problems with him in any way. --Vista 18:37, 22 February 2006 (GMT)
  • With support comes questions... -- Odd Starter talk | Mod | W! 01:21, 15 Feb 2006 (GMT)
    • What Moderator duties do you see yourself focusing on, as a rule?
    • How do you react to criticism online?
    • What is your current attitude to the moderators, as a group?
    • Have you had any previous position of responsibility in any other online communities, and if so, elaborate?
    • As a rule, I would focus on the suggestions page as there is always something which needs doing there. But I think the arbitration page also needs to be concentrated on.
    • To tell you the truth I haven't really recieved much critisicm but I would be happily take construtive critisicm and try to learn from it.
    • I think the moderators do a good job and I don't have any complaints about them.
    • I haven't but I may be starting a forum soon.--The General 08:52, 15 Feb 2006 (GMT)
  • I've looked over your edits and the vast majority of them are on sugestion pages with a few on the arbitration page. What other parts of the Wiki do you watch regularly, even if you don't edit them? --RedKnight 03:17, 28 February 2006 (GMT)
  • You are correct in saying that the vast majority of my edits are on the suggestions page, this is because I find that that is where I can do most good. The other pages which are regularly are the vandalism reports page and the bug reports page. Other than that I just check the recent changes page and look at any important changes.--The General 20:52, 28 February 2006 (GMT)

General, to be honest, I'm not sure that I'm comfortable making you a moderator at the moment. I know that you've been doing a bit in Arbitration, and that you've been doing a lot of work on the Suggestions board. However, there seems to be very little interest by, well, anyone in the community, about you becoming Moderator or not.

However, I can't honestly say that you're not suitable for the position. I'm going to deny your nomination this time around, but I would like to invite you to try again in another month or two. If by that time there's more interest in your becoming a Moderator, I'll be happy to grant it to you. -- Odd Starter talk | Mod | W! 09:35, 1 March 2006 (GMT)

Ok, I would like to thank those who supported my nomination and to ask those people who didn't comment whether it was because they were against my nomination, or whether they simply couldn't be bothered. I will be trying again if I can get the support. Hopefully, next time I try for moderator I will get enough support. Also, is there a certain amount of time you think I should wait, or can I try again the moment I have enough support (whatever the answer, it will definently be at least 3 or so weeks before I try again).--The General 19:22, 1 March 2006 (GMT)
