Suggestion type
Skill/Improvement

Suggestion scope
Zombies

Suggestion description
From Scents of Direction's Flavor Text, as suggested by swiers: "Areas and buildings in Malton have always had distinctive smells, and this is especially so after two years of unsanitary ripening. By remembering these smells and comparing the smells' relative strengths and directions, zombies know how far they have moved and in what direction. As the sense of smell is strongly tied to memory, zombie's with this ability are unlikely to ever become lost, and easily navigate to their hunting grounds."

Mechanics: Scent Trail has a new bonus. Not only can it track suriviors wherever they go, but they also get to see their GPS type co-ordinates displayed (next to the building name) along with other scene description text. So instead of seeing "You are standing outside The Blackmore Building", such characters would see "You are standing outside The Blackmore Building (55,47).

This is not a cross-over skill.

Impact: None really, except for co-ordiation of raids, giving GPS Units a bonus, and adding flavour. Also has the added benieft of NOT breaking up the skill tree, so new zombies won't be hurt at all.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - E-gad! It's a reasonable scent trail update. Good job. --User:Axe27/Sig 04:56, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep Interesting..... --Seventythree 08:53, 24 May 2007 (BST) (edited, I accidently posted it under kill votes, sorry!)--Seventythree 08:54, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Nice suggestion! This will make it more fun and interesting... Hehe --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! 10:10, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  4. keep - Saves some metagaming. Good. - BzAli 11:04, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  5. Keeper from me. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:11, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - Good way for non firefox users to get one of the benefits of some of the better ud firefox extensions
  7. Keep - As above, plus the same reasoning I had for liking Scents of Direction. --Uncle Bill 20:58, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep - I don't really like the whole "zombies knowing exactly where they are by sniffing the air," but the idea is good. --Heavy DDR 00:42, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep -Gerr-eat Idea. I hated having to cross reference where I was with a wiki map to find coordinates (that was, until I started using Firefox). It'd definitely help Zombies a bit. Kudos to You...Psyche.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:05, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - I don't mind this one. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 14:26, 31 May 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep - Doesn't negate the benefits of carrying a GPS unit around, so... --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 22:27, 1 June 2007 (BST)
  12. Keep - Sure, can't see why not. --Sonofagun18 10:59, 2 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill Am I the only one that would find it out of flavor that zombies would again gain a better version of a survivor item? Zombies already hold the edge in communications and coordination.--Vista +1 15:12, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill -I don't have anything against the suggestion, in fact, I think scent trail does need a bonus, however read your own suggestion. This would not give GPS units a bonus, in fact, this has no relation to the item whatsoever exeot that it gives zombies with scent trail a similar ability. --AlexanderRM 02:25, 6 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - I don't like this. Why would a zombie need to know the GPS co-ords of a building? Why would it know them because of the smell? If you as a player need to know the co-ords, use a map, or the wiki suburb page. I literally don't see any use for this in-game. Please point this out if I missed what it was. armareum 07:01, 8 June 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Dupe - Appears to be almost exactly the same as the suggestion by Swiers referenced in this suggestion. Could you at least wait until the original is either in peer reviewed, peer rejected, or undecided? --Saluton 14:53, 24 May 2007 (BST)
Swiers' suggestion had it be a seperate skill and had that skill break up the skill tree to harm new zeds in gaining Scent Death and Scent Trail. This one just have it be a passive ability attached to Scent Trail. I feel threfore that it is different from that other suggestion.--ShadowScope 19:09, 24 May 2007 (BST)
