20070613 Infectious Bite Upgrades

Mordac the Refuser 04:02, 13 June 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Skill.

Suggestion scope
Zombies and Infected Victims.

Suggestion description
This suggestion borrows some elements from ShadowScope's "Fatal Bite" in the developement page.

Zombies should get a new type of bite under "infectious bite": "Venomous Bite."

Venomous Bite can be purchased for 100 XP after puchasing Infectious Bite. Zombies have now developed the ability to secrete a type of toxic agent from their teeth.

Important: Zombie players will have the ability to choose which type of bite to attack with.

Like Infectious Bite, a venomous bite causes victims to lose 1 HP for every non-speaking action. However, it differs from infectious bite in that:

1) Venomous Bite does not come back with the revive.

2) Venomous Bite cannot be removed except by surgery. Healers with the first aid skill can restore hp, but the infection is not removed. Standard FAKs have no effect whatsover.

3) The surgeon responsible for removing the Venomous infection gets 5 XP.

NOTE: If a zombie with the venomous bite skill bites a survivor with a standard infection, the survivor's infection is NOT "upgraded" to venomous. And vice versa.

This upgrade would give Doctors and Medics a more important role to play in the game. Also, it would now be crucial to keep hospitals powered at all times.

Keep Votes

  1. Change: Might as well vote Keep on my own suggestion, to let it have a fighting chance. Altough granting a 5 XP bonus to healing the Venmous Infection seems a bit iffy. I'd rather it be taken out. Like smashing barricades, healing infections is your own reward.--ShadowScope 04:58, 13 June 2007 (BST) EDIT: And, DON'T drop the part where you choose which one to bite with. After all, both Infectious and Venmonous Bites has their uses for zeds.--ShadowScope 05:27, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Change Drop the part where you can choose which one to bite with. --Secruss 05:06, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - I like it, a lot (can I vote twice? ;)) -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 09:37, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Change How about instead of using surgery to remove the infection, you could introduce a medical skill for the production of pills or medicine of some sort to stop the infection, much like the Necrotech production of syringes? Your basic idea has a good shape to it though, and is something I've been thinking about for a while too.Werewolf32 12:54, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - Makes the hospital and Surgery useful for once, those have always just been space savor crap skills/buildings. Defending Malls and Nts becomes a little more dependant on something other than the damn Mall and NT cause the game isn't about defending malls and Nts, It's about staying alive and keeping people alive, and hey, it's also about the suburb not the mall, this makes it more about the suburb. Oh yeah, and it makes infection actually matter somewhat because who the hell doesn't carry an FAK around with them these days? --karek 15:01, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Change - It resembles mine, so I'll give 'er keep, but as Seventythree (below) for changes...
  7. Keep - As Karek said. Hospitals and Surgery are a joke. Give them a purpose! Keep Keep Keep! --DonTickles 16:27, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep - Zambahs need some new skills, and this would increase the importance of powered hospitals as compared to mall drugstores.--Kali Magdalene 22:04, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep - I agree with the people above --Nikitis 10:17, 14 June 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - Meh.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 01:03, 18 June 2007 (BST)
  11. keep good idea. --User:Androo the 2/sig 09:44 19 june 19 2007 (BST)
  12. keep I like it.--Globule13 21:57, 24 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - How does cutting someone cure infection? Eh, infection by itself has enough uses already. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:20, 13 June 2007 (BST)
RE: Exactly. My idea just makes it better. And surgery can remove an infected part of a victim and stop the infection from spreading to the rest of the body.-- Mordac the Refuser 04:39, 13 June 2007 (BST)
Isn't that amputation? Although I suppose that could go under surgery. Infectious bite is good enough on its own, 4 damage, infection, heals and gives the most xp from a zombie attack. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:49, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - With extreme prejudice. --The Hierophant 04:23, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - So, if you're bitten far from a hospital, or just far from a powered one, you're dead? No way! - BzAli 05:31, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill The only way that I'd vote for an infection that can only be cured by surgery is if it does a maximum of, say 40HP damage only.--Seventythree 07:38, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - as BzAli --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 09:02, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill/Change- I really want to vote yes, I really do. I love seeing new Zombie skills implemented, but this one is just way to powerful. Defending malls and NT's would be absolutely impossible. Make it so that the person only needs first aid and you have my vote. --Casthewiz 9:07, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - I'd vote keep if it were treatable by anybody with first aid, regardless of location. As it is, a survivor would have to have the surgery skill and carry 2 faks, a generator, and a fuel can in order to be fully self reliant- and that's assuming they know where to find an un-ransacked hospital while loosing 2 HP per AP spent. That's just overpowered. 21:19, 13 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill -- Nonsensically overpowered ftw? -- Firemanrik 00:48, 14 June 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - Overpowered and I'll not crazy about venomous zombies either. I can understand a bite giving you an infection but a zombie injecting you with venom...WHAT? --Sonofagun18 04:57, 14 June 2007 (BST)
  10. Change - Since it can only be removed through surgery, try making the rate of HP loss slower than a standard infection. This might give you more of a fighting chance to make it into a hospital. --Uncle Bill 22:00, 14 June 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - I don't like this overpowered suggestion the slightiest bit. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 05:23, 15 June 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - Overpowered, and not quite right in it's current form. How about you let suggestions on the development page get discussed more fully before they are posted. And let the originator be the one to decide when it's ready to suggest. Seems like you got a little over-excited there. armareum 01:04, 16 June 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - as others.--  Vista  +1  10:30, 23 June 2007 (BST)
  14. Change if you implement this, it's got to have a max damage, cause a player in almost any of the more zombie infestested areas would be screwed completely. so, either make hospitals easier to defend (GOD NO, that would make survivors undefeatable.) or set a lowest HP possible for people with venomous bite infections.--Afterdeath 21:14, 23 June 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - as per most of the suggestions above, too OP as it stands --Ryiis 00:12, 24 June 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Almost actuall spam -As many others.--AlexanderRM 01:00, 14 June 2007 (BST)
Meaning WHAT exactly? -- Mordac the Refuser 02:23, 14 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam- What's that? -It's not a bird, or a plane, it's.... Insanely Overpowered Man!!! (Dagnabbit, can someone fix my vote?)Nalikill 03:58, 15 June 2007 (BST)
