Boring.jpg

The Problem

Hundreds of location pages on this wiki look pretty much exactly the same as the one pictured above. If they're lucky, they might have a two or three year old status report or even a brief note about barricade plans. Most have nothing at all, giving us hundreds, nay, thousands, of location stubs. The largest category on this wiki - by a country mile - is the one for location stubs. I mean, I know Malton is apparently English, but even England isn't this boring, is it?

The Solution

Write moar stuff! In the past few months, we've had a few writing projects, to varying degrees of success, which shows that there's definately people out there with the ability to string more than a few words together. As a result, we should be able to make a dent in the hordes of boring, empty location stubs. To this end, I'm starting a project-come-contest, aimed at getting some work done in this field.

The Contest

One hundred suburbs. Ten thousand blocks. Two weeks. Some amount of guys. Each entrant is required merely to pick a suburb (on a first come, first served basis), and get writing descriptions for the locations in that suburb. At the end of the two weeks (start date will be declared if and when people start signing up), the scores will be tallied up using the following points system, and the winner will (maybe) get themselves awarded a nice shiny template and some bragging rights. Further clarifications about the rules are listed on the talk page, but don't be one of those mean ol' beardy bastards who try to wrangle them too much.

The contest will begin from 00:00 BST Monday 3rd May 2010, ending at 23:59 BST Sunday 16th May 2010.

Scores will be calculated as follows:

Points Requirement
+1 150 or more words added to a location's description.
+1 Relevant picture added to a location.
+2 Each full set of five locations written with histories cross-referencing each other.
+3 Each full set of ten locations written up with 150 or more words.
+10 Each full suburb worth of locations written up with 150 or more words.

The Contestants

Add yourself to the list below if you're signing up. Sign your name, and please include the suburb you will be covering, but only if it has not already been claimed.
