Untitled Zombie Consumption Ability
Timestamp: | Jon Pyre 11:50, 28 October 2006 (BST) |
Type: | Skill |
Scope: | Zombies |
Description: | Ok, I lied. I think this skill should be called Feeding Frenzy but I didn't want to title the suggestion that to avoid this being confused with the several completely different suggestions that share the same name. Now onto the skill:
A zombie with Feeding Frenzy is a natural leader, making the killing blow before the victim's corpse is swarmed and devoured by the horde. This does not benefit the zombie with the skill but instead acts to heal fellow injured zombies if there are any present. The most heavily injured zombie would benefit as they'd need flesh more to regenerate and be hungrier and pushier. Different killing blows would heal different amounts depending how effective it is at opening the survivor up for easy feasting. Killing a survivor with a hand attack would heal the most injured zombie present 5hp. Killing a survivor with a bite attack would heal the two most injured zombies 5hp each. Killing an already infected survivor (weaker and less able to resist) with a bite attack would heal the three most injured zombies 5hp each. What the benefiting zombie would see is: A zombie killed Microman. You feasted on the remains and gained 5 health. This wouldn't heal more than a first-aid kit spread out, and requiring a kill for each heal keeps it balanced. While it wouldn't help any one zombie that much it'd help ensure that the average health of your horde stays high. This would be useful skill zombies could use to aid their allies, in the same altruistic spirit as Feeding Groan. |

- Author vote A pretty useful skill that is by no means unbalancing. While zombies can stand right back up they still would rather be harder to put down. Health is useful, even for zeds. It's the equivalent of a single first-aid kit. --Jon Pyre 11:50, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Keep - Sounds fair enough to me. - Jedaz - 16:15/21/11/2024 12:02, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Hardly overpowered - You want to see overpowered? Look at FAKs. What's the find rate for them now? 50%. Yeah, it's a wonder anybody dies. They certainly don't if someone else is active, or their only wounded. Oh, and I'll echo Jon's second reply: This also takes lots of skills to set up, and is also very specialized for when it comes into play. But it would still be useful when it did come into play. Oh, and all that crap about "Zombies aren't nice to each other"? What do you think Feeding Groan is for? --Pinpoint 19:59, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Share the wealth. --CrimsonD 21:31, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- At first, it seemed overpowered, then I realized.. it requires the killing of a survivor and this skill for it to happen. And it won't matter if you have no other zombies with you.. so it's a zombie gangbang heal, nothing free about it. Could be great for helping noob zombies stay alive a little longer before they get headshot. No worries, makes infection useful for a bit more as well... Possible names: Gorge On Entrails, Organ Harvest, Horde Feast, Cannibal Buffet, Horde Digestion, Rend Survivor MrAushvitz 00:01, 29 October 2006 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Overpowered - The bite attack already does 4 damage, provides 4HP & 4XP & causes infection. Now, the killing blow, which already gives 10XP (is that right?) will also heal 15HP, spread amongst 3 zombies? Come off it. For a survivor to heal 3 allies, would take 3AP for the healing, plus all the AP spent finding the FAKs in the first place, and that's ALL they're doing. This is just another in your long line of recent super-zombie suggestions. --Funt Solo 13:04, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Re True about the survivor spending 3 AP, but they'd also be able to heal 45 health with those 3 first-aid kits. This lets the zombie have the equivalent of 1 first-aid kit when they make a kill. To gain 15 health they'd need to use bite attack when the person is already infected, meaning that they'd be giving up higher accuracy (and thus spending more AP) just for this benefit without even causing infection. And if there is only 1 injured zombie present you only restore 5hp no matter what bite attack you use, meaning that most of the time it wouldn't be worth the risk of going for 15. People would just try to finish their targets off with a bite and infect them at the same and get 5hp for two zeds. --Jon Pyre 17:54, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Re Your example of the lucky survivor who heals 45 health is of course, a rare occurence when everyone's in a powered hospital and has all the correct skills - even more AP to set up. Zombies don't eat corpses in this game, they just kill the living - and the bite doesn't need a buff. --Funt Solo 18:17, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Re And this requires some skills too, and a survivor with just First-Aid and no power still heals 30. This gives you the equivalent of 3 first-aid kits without any healing skills, without being to use more than one a single person, and if nobody needs them they're wasted. The higher AP cost of attacking with bite balances with the AP cost of searching. This is far less powerful than you make it out to be. --Jon Pyre 19:15, 28 October 2006 (BST)

- Overpowered God as my witness, this should be burned as it makes me agree with Funt on something 100%. Now I feel....Dirty. But I was that before this suggestion so carry on. Conndrakamod T CFT 13:57, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Not overpowered, but, if a Zed wants health, it would be better if he goes out and start biting the enemy rather than wait for someone else to heal him. I can see this as a way to let a zed surivie an extra shot or two during an active seige, but that seems to be it...Not only that, but you are ALSO boosting Claws. Bites don't need a buff, and neither does Claws too. It is a good suggestion though, and I wouldn't be suprised if Kevan implement it. I just don't like it. Sorry.--ShadowScope 21:24, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- Kill - Just like the zombies should be if they are weak. They have no fear of death, and the only thing they should worry about is the headshot ability. Also gives free HP during attacking that Digestion already does, albit without the claws. --Sekoku 22:19, 28 October 2006 (BST)
- I actually kinda like it, but no free healing. As I understand the suggestion, zombie A kills a survivor and zombie B gets a free 5 HP, just for being present. Maybe if zombie B had to spend an AP to "feed" or something, but I'd think they would have to be present (and active) at the time of the kill to do it. Plus, doesn't this nerf Digestion? I mean zombie B doesn't, apparently, even have to HAVE Digestion (and it heals MORE than Digestion does). I'd think this would be better called "messy eater" in that it isn't really that the killing zombie is handing out pieces of the victim, it is more like he's such a slob that pieces of the victim end up everywhere.--Pesatyel 08:52, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Kill -- Neat! But when I consider this under the Multiply Function suggestion, it feels a bit overpowered because you don't specify which zombies count as 'most wounded' or how many can be healed. This requires a bit more work. Visit the Talk for some help! --MorthBabid 01:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Kill It's a nice idea, but it could make large groups of zombies almost invincible. --Garrett Fisher 12:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
