Introduction

The Malton Construction Workers Union has only one purpose. We repair ruined buildings. Just contact us when you spot a ruined building and we'll show up, clean up, and board up (up to VSB- no point in more if the place is empty). Chances are we'll have some FAK's and Needles too, maybe even a generator and fuel if its a really important location.

Mission

MCWU aims to enhance effectiveness of Construction based survivor play, thus aiding all survivors.

The over-riding mission of MCWU is to provide on-call rapid repair of Ruins. It is expected that various MCWU local Foremen will form a relationship with the local survivor groups to enable this mission.

Other activites include generator and radio repair, barricade maintenance, and providing revives to other MCWU members.

MCWU also provides information about Construction status, to aid its own members in doing thier work, and to aid survivors at large in traveling.

Membership

MCWU members would be survivors with toolboxes, free running, and the construction skill. They don't need much else- whatever else you feel helps is OK.

MCWU members can be one of three ranks:

  • Apprentice - You can apply to be an Apprentice on the Talk:MCWU page. New members are apprentice's until voted a Journeyman in 2/3 majority union vote, appointed Journeymen by the Union President or if there are less than 3 members of a Local.
  • Journeyman - Experienced members, Journeymen get a vote in Union policy and elections.
  • Foreman - A Foreman is a Journeyman who has been voted to lead a Local. If a Local does not contain a Foreman, then the Union President is considered the Foreman of the Local until one is elected.
  • Union President - an Executive position that is held in addition to that of a Foreman. (Elections for this position are being put on hold until we get more established.)

Apprentices and Journeymen may have dual membership.

Map of Union Local areas and Ruins in those areas

Each Union Local area below includes a 20x20 block are comprised of 4 suburbs. Its a pretty obvious way to divide up the city, and MCWU feels this suits our purposes better then the system of 20 districts used by DEM, because a single worker can reasonably expect to cross a Union Local and still put in a days work, no matter the distance between job sites.

Clicking on the Local ## text in the map below will take you to a page that shows a list of all Iwitness reports of ruined buildings in that Local. This feature is intended for MCWU workers so they can locate job sites, and also as a "travel advisory" to survivors. (Zombies may also find it helpful. Iwitness intentionally does not discriminate.) If you have a building you want repaired, just make an Iwitness report of its location, and (assuming MWCU is active in the Local) we will come fix it if we can! If you plan to re-occupy the building or need a speedy response, use our talk page and leave a message for the appropriate Local.
