20070925 Powered Ruins still visible as Powered

'arm. 02:34, 25 September 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
Ruined Buildings

Suggestion description
It's possible to see Ruined buildings and Powered buildings from the street. It's also possible to set up a generator in a Ruined building, and power it. However when you do so, from street level the building still appears Ruined.

This is counter-intuitive.

If a normal building can be seen as "lit" from the street, how could a ruined building NOT be seen as "lit" from the street?

This suggestion is to change the priority so that Powered always trumps over Ruined.

Some information/assumptions

  • Despite popular belief, it has always been possible to search ruined and ransacked buildings
    • Search rates are not reduced to zero, but are a reduced version of the normal rates.
  • It is believed that a "lit" ruined or ransacked building raises the search rates to those of a normal building.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Ruin is mostly only good for 'zombie-territory' anyway (due to the high AP cost), and allowing survivors to take advantage of that nerfs even that minor advantage. Being able to hide powered generators inside ruined buildings gives too much advantage to survivors for my taste. 'arm. 04:36, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep- Makes sense. Though I bet that people would say there'd be stuff in front of windows and would block the light. But the idea is reasonable.--Dragon fang 04:56, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  3. yea - Must be a problem. doc crook 05:01, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - If Kevan isn't going to see sense and make it impossible to power ruined buildings then this is essential. --The Hierophant 06:06, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - however i would like to see the block a different colour. maybe orange? just to show that the building is ruined. otherwise you couldnt tell the difference between a ruined and a non-ruined.--'BPTmz 06:20, 25 September 2007 (BST)
Yes, that's a possibility. However that option would have been obvious to Kevan from the outset. And a powered building always attracted attention - if it's ruined you're going to find out as soon as you get there. 'arm. 06:23, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep – Common sense says yes. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 07:10, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - Makes sense. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 07:14, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep/Change - Only if it is highlighted with a different color. Otherwise it may be misleading for survivors. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 07:30, 25 September 2007 (BST)
Oh, to let them know in advance that they will need a toolkit to repair the ruin before they can barricade? Actually, that does sound fair. 'arm. 07:42, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  9. Keeep - Meh.--Seventythree 08:41, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  10. Keep - Same as JohnRubin.--Smokerjoker 08:49, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  11. Keep - As BP & John Rubin. --Sonofagun18 09:35, 25 September 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - This suggestion makes it so that a powered ruined building becomes indistinguishable from a powered repaired building. Survivors free running into such a building will get a nasty shock, finding themselves outside with no warning. Dangerous stuff if low on AP -- boxytalk • 09:47 25 September 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - only because i like it the way it is now more --~~~~ [talk] 10:38, 25 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Im gonna have to kill on this. My zombie ruined a powered building today, and is now stealthily listening in on harman radio transmissions. Really useful for a clever feral to know which buildings have been broken into in such a way, and having humans drop in on me eavesdropping would be just plain uncool, or worse, ignorant other zombies who simply would smash the machinery of my evil. --The Grimch U! 4. Kill - as Boxy. --Pavluk A! E! 16:26, 25 September 2007 (BST)
