20070522 Throw off Scent Trail

Obsidian 20:16, 22 May 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
Zombie Hunters, Revivers/Scanners, Zombies

Suggestion description
Every Hotel will have a new button that reads "Shower". Taking a shower costs 4 AP and will make any zombies the player has made contact with loose their Scent Trail on the person. The AP cost is present because the survivor does not have to run away to loose the zombie.

Hotels are the most logical building for working showers to be located in. Hotels are not as common as other buildings in the game, so having showers in hotels only would help to keep the showers from being abused. It also makes hotels more valuable as bases for Zombie Hunters and NecroTech Scientists.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - It would make hotels more important. Obsidian 20:17, 22 May 2007 (BST) EDIT: Well at least the concept is out there now. Maybe someone else can improve this. --Obsidian 20:11, 24 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - But Scent Trail will need a boost for it. And it was about time for someone to think in a way for us to get rid of all these smelly harmanz. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 23:39, 23 May 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - scent trail is weak enough as it is. -- Dance Emot.gifTheDavibob T 20:28, 22 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - as Davibob --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 21:09, 22 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Change - I almost don't want to vote kill because this is a really clever suggestion. Still, this does make it just a tad to easy to lose a scent trail. Maybe there should be some other requirement like a generator (so you can have "hot" water?). Part of me REALLY wants to vote keep on this, but for now it's a kill. --Uncle Bill 21:47, 22 May 2007 (BST)
Re - How about letting zombies destroy showers. Repairing the shower would be a seperate task from repairing the rest of the hotel. Also, repairing the shower would require one length of pipe, which would be lost in the proccess. I'm not sure if I can edit my suggestion while it is up for voting though. I'll work on it some more for when I can repost it.--Obsidian 22:55, 22 May 2007 (BST)
  4. You know, there is a way to lose scent. Get someone else to attack or interact with that zed. Or kill/revive it. Reviving it will bite the suriviors later on, due to the fact that zed is going to be a Death Cultist, but at least it would save you from that Scent right now. Besides, Scent Trail is a bit useless as it is, since suriviors can hide in EHB Barricades, and lone zombies won't be able to attack it. It does have its use for zombie hordes to know: "There is at least one surivior in such-and-such building, So attack!" I rather not make Scent Trail worse. Rare does not equal balanced, also, you know. ...Still, as Uncle Bill, it's a pretty clever suggestion, but I bet zombies' noses are much more keen in figuring out where you are, and not even a shower could hide them.--ShadowScope 00:28, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - I believe that a nose picks up scent particles or whatever that are floating around in the air. So taking a shower wouldn't make too much of a difference would it? You've already left a trail. Nice suggestion though, but scent trail is weak as it is. --Target Zombie 02:16, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Scent trail is a game mechanic. I can think of a dozen easier, more realistic ways to throw off tracking by smell, but they have no relation to the game's "Scent Trail". --Seb_Wiers VeM 03:05, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - Scent Trail is too weak already, and what are the chances of a quarentined, zombie-ridden city having constant running water? ShinobiSlider 06:32, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill Much as I think that people should be showering (300 people in one mall, all of them have been fighting rotting corpses for the last year without a shower? Imagine the smell!) there are simpler ways to lose a scent trail, like killing the zombie. --Seventythree 09:20, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - I don't like showering and I want to kill some zombies who are following me so NO! --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! 11:04, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill -As Davibob --Fippe 14:24, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill or Change I have to admit, I think this is a superb idea. Still, though, as Davibob said, Scent Trail is already too weak. Maybe allowing the zombie to still track the character to the hotel, where they would recieve a message, "The trail leads you to an empty shower. Your quarry's scent seems to have vanished beyond it.". I don't think this would be enough, short of giving Scent Trail some added function to counter this impediment to it. --Davurnium 17:16, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill-- as above--'BPTmz 23:23, 23 May 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill Wow, let's make it impossible for zeds to crack 'cades while your at it. --User:Axe27/Sig 00:44, 24 May 2007 (BST)
