Suggestion description
Currently, zombies have only four ways of gaining XP, which is a topic often brought up. This suggestion is meant to counter this somewhat, and stimulate slightly more altruistic behaviour in the process.

When a zombie uses Feeding Groan, it gains XP equal to the amount of survivors in the building, with a maximum of 6 XP (which is the amount of blocks that the groan can be heard from). Groaning again in the same 24-hour period would not gain the zombie any XP, unless the amount of survivors in the building were to increase. In that case, XP would only be gained for new survivors. If there's 4 survivors and the zombie groans, he gets 4 XP. If two more survivors enter and the zombie groans again, 2 more XP would be earned. If a new zombie should enter the building, it can still earn XP as normal, without a penalty for what the other zombie did (so unlike DNA Extraction, it only matters if you groaned in that building already).

This is kept track of for every building, so you couldn't exit and enter constantly for easy XP. This also means that you could bring down other barricades and groan there, but eating brains in the building you were already in is probably more effective. Long story short, this is just a way to make zombie life a little easier, and to encourage the use of Feeding Groan so that zombielings can eat too.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep/Change I'd just make it the first time each day, a lot more simple. I can't believe I'm the first Keep. Come on Author! I even justified my vote. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 23:25, 4 April 2009 (BST)
  2. Keep - As Ross. Make it simpler and you've got a pretty decent suggestion. -- Cheese 23:32, 4 April 2009 (BST)
  3. Keep/Change I agree with Ross. Once a day is fine. Still requires new zombies to get Feeding Groan to gain XP, though, so barely helps since they'll get Vigour Mortis instead. Still, can't hurt anything (just like a young zombie!).--Necrofeelinya 00:26, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  4. Keep - As Ross. --Janus talk 00:28, 5 April 2009 (BST)

  6. Keep - As Ross (and now Pesatyel) Linkthewindow  Talk  00:46, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  7. Keep - Same as the people above. --Mail2345 02:20, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  8. Keep - Author vote. --LaosOman 15:51, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  9. Keep - Might as well. Limited to once a day, as Ross, and this would be fine. ChainReaction01 00:58, 6 April 2009 (BST)
  10. Keep - I think it sounds alright. I'll be sympathetic. Nemesis645 18:08, 13 April 2009 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Nope. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 23:22, 4 April 2009 (BST)
  2. Kill - Handing out XP for a feeding groan rewards a simple, instinctual bodily function. Zombies groan because it's their nature to act unselfishly, which is why they always win. Rewarding the action seems a bit contradictory. --Paddy DignamIS DEAD 02:08, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  3. Kill - No no no no no no. Zombie skills have a balance between helpful towards a horde (ruining a building), and helpful towards themselves (getting xp). For example, biting isn't particularly fun unless you intend on infecting all the humans in a building, but it gives you some XP, so its an average move for both purposes. On the far side of the spectrum, there is mere attacking a human, which isn't great for horde co-ordination but gives you XP, so its the move that helps you get xp most. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there is something like Feeding Groan, which gives you no individual advantage but with it comes the ability to attract an entire horde. You are proposing to give an XP bonus to something that, in my opinion, serves its purpose perfectly by itself. Groan already grows in effectiveness from the amount of humans you groan around, so why do that more? And you want to get a 6XP bonus for something that costs 1AP? Nooo! DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 02:11, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  4. Kill - As above. --Private Mark 07:31, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  5. I think the spam voters have a legit complaint about it being "too easy" to gain XP. Not that its "too easy" to get XP by tagging. Or healing. Or reviving (CR anyone?). Among other things. The problem I have is that you only need 6 survivors to use it (at most). I think it should be more.--Pesatyel 09:48, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  6. Kill - In my own experience of playing a zombie, its already very easy for them to get expereince. The Mad Axeman 13:02, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  7. Kill - While I understand wanting to let zombies gain some small amount of XP for something other than attacking and eating bra!ns, 6 AP for a Feeding Groan is too much. Maybe if you capped it at 2 XP (for a group of 6+ humans present) it would be more reasonable. --Maverick Talk - OBR Praise Knowledge! 404 13:31, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  8. Kill - Too much XP handed out. --ZsL 23:52, 5 April 2009 (BST)
  9. Kill A zombie shouldn't get free xp just for responding to another feeding groan. This oddly encourages each zombie to groan once, even if there were recent groans, meaning one less attack per zombie meaning less damage done to survivors. --A Big F'ing Dog 04:02, 6 April 2009 (BST)
Kill if I recall correctly there were literally thousands of survivors at whatever seige of Caiger Mall they won. That would mean a zombie could potentially gain several hundred xp in one fell swoop? I dont think so --User:Alex1guy Timestampless vote struck. --Midianian¦T¦DS¦SP¦ 09:28, 6 April 2009 (BST)
  10. No – If you want XP, kill the harmanz. Communication should not give XP. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 10:03, 6 April 2009 (BST)
  11. Kill Dosen't make sense. Getting Xp for groaning? Your just communicating, its not what a zombie would.--Michalesonbadge.pngTCAPD(╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ 20:47, 9 April 2009 (BST)
  12. Kill Because this suggestion needs more fire to die by. Conndrakamod TAZM CFT 10:21, 13 April 2009 (BST)
  13. Kill No way. If zeds were to get experience for feeding groans, then survivors should get experience for sending out radio transmissions. And we all know how ridiculous that would be. --Fujiko Mine 17:31, 16 April 2009 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. So...Let see if I got this right. As soon as a zombie purchases Feeding Groan, they can have pretty much all the free XP they want? Of course, for this to be most effective, there would have to be an entire suburb siege going down, where most building doors have been knocked wide open. I think not, allowing the zed to enter a building, groan once, hit another spot, enter it, and groan, and so forth? A little too convenient, don't ya think? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 01:09, 5 April 2009 (BST)
