Extravaganza
This page is about the 2006 and 2007 events. For the scheduled event for 2008, see The Third Extravaganza.
The Extravaganza!!!!!!!!
In the waning hours of a tired May Monday, several key leaders from major groups all over Malton recieved missives from a mysterious stranger, detailing a grand plan to boost the morale of survivors the city over. While this gesture would entail a tremendous expenditure of weapons, effort, and time, its mastermind nevertheless believed that it was vital to restore light to a darkening city.
The Plan was simple:
Fireworks
Something so blindingly simple, something that had indeed been tried before, but never on such a massive scale. Key members of the largest and most well organized factions of Malton would ferry flare guns throughout the city on the eve of the outbreaks, Proclaiming to whoever flies the black helicopters above that one year after the outbreaks, there is still life within this city. A quick estimate by its coordinator suggests that if even 1% of all survivors each fire 10 flares skyward, over 4,000 brilliant balls of hope would blaze in the sky above.
Organization
The Malton's Angels, the original group behind the brilliant scheme, charge any survivor who feels Malton could use a little brightening to stand in solidarity at one of our 5 launching points detailed below. Be a beacon of hope in these dark times, join us! Groups are encouraged to list their attendance at one of the 5 sites below, or create your own! The Extravaganza begins at server reset on the 3rd of July, 2006 and continues until all the flares are gone.
Silley Park [24, 25]: Chosen for it's proximity to the "bright center of Malton", Caiger Mall. From here, those at Caiger can witness this spectacular event. In attendance will be the seldom seen Padre Romero, founder of the Malton's Angels, as well as a ragtag group of survivors from nearby Caiger Mall. We invite the elusive "Codename V" to attend and give a stirring speech immediately following the event.
- Elusive indeed, I will be there. An emissary, DogSoldier, will speak for me, spouting my pretentions as a "stirring speech," one which I hope you will all enjoy. Code-name V accepts your invitation and looks forward to the bash. --Codename V 03:02, 25 May 2006 (BST)
- Due to differing time zones, V will give his speech at approx 10am on the 3rd. Apologies. --Codename V 22:46, 3 July 2006 (BST)
- The speech is given! I trust you all had a merry time and I thank the Padre and his Angels for organizing this wonderful event.--Codename V 09:34, 4 July 2006 (BST)
- Due to differing time zones, V will give his speech at approx 10am on the 3rd. Apologies. --Codename V 22:46, 3 July 2006 (BST)
Whetcombe Park [53,50]: Site of the famous "Stanstock" event, The Extravaganza hopes to be equally memorable. In attendance will be Angel Bossa Nova.
Titley Park [78, 44]: Near historic Fort Perryn. In attendance will be Angel Nathan Wild and his drinking buddies from the Makenzie Arms. A live performance by Omaha Natives "3-11" will follow. Key members of the CDF will be standing by to supervise in case Nathan blows his face off with homemade thermite (sp).
Yeoman Park [58, 55]: For the particularly daring, we will be setting up a pyrotechnics display in the heart of Malton, one of the most dangerous locations in the city. Lazer Priest and others will be standing by should things get dicey. Various members of the DEM have pledged to bring flares and Hamburgers.
Dart Park [68, 87]: Hosted by the Special Tactics And Rescue Squad in scenic East Grayside, this pyrotechnics display will have every willing member in attendance. Also attending will be Mira Hart and her beloved Sam, as well as members of the DEM, those displaced from leward park On account of Rain. (Tentatively) Also starring Angel and all around musclebound behemoth Jimbo Morgan. Southern Alliance Will be supplying refreshments.
Hacker Way [95, 44]:In the beautiful suburb of Starlingtown, Hosted by everyone, but the original concept was from The Starlingtown Resistance Front (now dissolved. Check page for template with incredibly cute smiley.). Chosen for it's great view from numerous multi-storied buildings (4 to be exact), Hacker way will be lighting up the eastern city sky's July 3rd 2006. The Nix arms is right next door, so we didn't get refreshments. sorry :(!. Angel TechnoTim will also be present.
Stanbury Place [51, 53]: A spacious, empty lot in the great Stanbury Village. The official stage for the fireshow of The Elite. Suburb chosen for sentimental and strategic value to the group. Hard liquor and dark beer provided, with fresh milk for the kiddies.
Dufferin Park [55, 41] : Located in the hellhole that is Ridleybank this fireworks display will be hosted by the suicidal members of The Malton Mafia and a couple of whack jobs from The Corleone Family. Everyone is welcome and the RRF have been asked to refrain from munching on us until after the spectacle. (Though they have respectfully declined) This event is strictly BYOB (Bring your own Brainz)
Eastern Dunell Hills [8,35]: The DHPD will be launching fireworks from the open field east of Broadbelt Grove PD, in easy view of all survivors within the surrounding area. There is talk of a pre-fireworks BBQ, though plans have not yet solidified; however, beverages will be provided by nearby Club Meade.
After Action Reports!
The event was a great success. Volunteer reporters can contribute screenshots and accounts of each of the fireworks launches here.
Darvall Heights
Over 250 flares were fired simultaneously at Silley Park. Nearly 50 survivors and three zombies (including the renowned comic genius Black Scotty of the Upper Left Corner, and Grognor) entertained the crowd during the after-party. Though V's representative was delayed, most of the crowd stayed faithfully through the night to hear him give his speech. Enormous fun was had by all!
Highlights:
Grognor warms up the crowd with a death-rattle rendition of La Bamba.
Two zombies engage in a friendly debate to the best of their vocabulary ability.
Codename V's representative arrives!

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!
Less than two days remain until Malton's Finest hour! All participating survivors stand at the ready. Final preparations have been made: Favors called in, Alliances forged, help enlisted, now the only thing that remains is to sit back and watch what wonders we hath wrought. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the groups and individuals who have made our grand gesture possible, and we would also like to take this oppertunity to convey some updates concerning the event:
Lights: The Lights begin at server reset The day of july 3rd, at server reset, according to Greenwich Mean time. Zombies may be present at the launch points, and while some have pledged to be friendly comrades, we suspect most will be looking for a snack. We apologize if any innocents are killed in the event, but as a fair warning to all zombies, you may be incinerated.
Camera: Those who would stay behind on this glorious evening, you too have a purpose that can be fufilled. Take screenshots of the Extravaganza, that we can determine the winners of the awards posted below. Please email any good screenshots to "Spindle01@cox.net" or post them on this page.
Action: Our enemies know exactly where we will be on this evening, and when to strike. Not only is this a way to show that we do not fear them, or death itself, but this night may serve to settle old scores. We anticipate the attendance of at least two deadly PKers, The Notorious "Black Bishop", as well as the somewhat troublesome "Cypher Zero". Do not hesitate to shoot either fiend on sight. Feel free to add any other potential rivals to this list as well.
SONG!: Ultimately, we have decided to broadcast an old classic, instead of something origional yet unmemorable. The Ambiance for this particular event will be Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overature, which will be broadcast on 17 supermassive speakers via a central computer located in the Joce Building. We have provided a link to a midi version of this song in case you have been living under a rock and haven't heard it. http://members.fortunecity.com/lioness/21812over.mid
The Goody Bag
Any party requires a goody bag of extra stuff you really don't need. All are welcome to contribute, but the Malton's Angels will be adding something to the goody bag once every week or so.
How to blow stuff up so it looks pretty
A new-fangled confabulation now allows us to track the exact duration until the glorious event! The fireworks will be timed by this clock: [[1]]. Now We can meticulously track the days, watch as the hours fly by, and go crazy trying to keep track of the epilepsy-inducing milliseconds flickering past.
And Now, A Word from our Sponsors
Remember, Remember the 5th of November | |
This user or group supports the vendetta against the villainous undead in Ridleybank. On the 5th of November, we will march on the choked heart of Malton and liberate it anew. Victory will be ours, and with it, vengeance! |
We highly encourage all participants in our little gala to look into this one as well. We have the same ends, as the Extravaganza is a symbol of a new era in Malton, one where humans feel safe sleeping outside and strolling through Ridleybank. Show them we know no fear! Show them we remember!
